A nurse applied electrodes to Kit’s chest, arms and legs. The test was surprisingly fast. The young doctor read the results and suggested they do a follow up stress test. Before they did that however, they took several vials of blood out of her, plus asked for a urine sample which took her to the restroom. She insisted that Bette go with her. She did not want her out of her sight.
The stress test was long in coming. It seemed to take hours, for Kit to be wheeled to another room and to wait for assistance. Bette sat with her patiently and often rubbed her arm and spoke reassuringly to her. By then Kit was more subdued and calmed down, as if her crises had subsided.
More nurses. More electrodes. Another doctor. The test and then the results. Kit was advised that she did not have a heart attack but that in all probability she had a panic attack.. She was urged to make an appointment with her own doctor for a complete physical as soon as possible. She was given an oral sedative to help her sleep and released in Bette’s care.
Bette took her home and made sure she had a hot shower and put her to bed. She tucked her in, told her that she would spend the night and urged her not to worry about anything. Kit asked her to call the Planet and tell Heather to lock up at 11 p.m. Bette said she would and then Kit took her little sister’s hand, squeezed it and managed a wan smile. “Thanks for bein’ here,” she told her.
Bette leaned closer to her and asked, “Are we okay again?”
Kit nodded, “Yeah,” she said, as she slipped into her exaggerated slang. “We still be sistahs and that ain’t nevah gonna change.”
“One of us always comes back.”
“Well, I know I’m stubborn just like daddy always was but I‘m glad you came tonight. You did the right thing but if you evah, evah catch a man o’ mine Jackin’ the Beanstalk, you damn well bettah tell ME – and not HIS sorry ass because he already knows it.”
Bette laughed softly, promised to tell her first if it ever happened again, kissed her on the forehead and urged her to get some sleep.

well, well, well…sissee, though i have been reading stories on this site for a couple of years now i’ve never tried yours, however, it was a slow day last week for my fave writers so i gave yours a try and i’m sooooo glad i did, it.is.brilliant!! i’m gutted now because i’m upto date and have to wait for your updates, boo! you’ve managed to do the unthinkable and actually have me rooting for someone other than tina for bette (me being a loyal tibetter) i love the way you write bette and back at the beginning when bette ended it when sissee was pregnant was heart wrenching…so glad you made sissee really work to get our bette back! anyway just wanted you to know you have a new fan and please, please, please keep your updates regular!!!
Can’t wait for the making up something something between B & S! They deserve to be together and the arguement in the morning about Jodie cannot break up their connection. They are two solid individuals who need each other in times of needs and love :-)

The dialogue between Bette and Kit was outstanding. You really captured the essence of this sister relationship. Excellent chapter and I loved the banter between SGS and BP.

Like mush 1912 I read your story by accident. I started with the Hawaiian chapters which resulted in a night without much sleeep. I read your story from the beginning and was fascinated. It is a pity that your story does’t get the attention it is worth. It’s one of my favourite stories. I am from Germany and my English is not perfect, but I wanted to say thanks for the wonderful story.
Bette’s Babe, Sorry to be slow these days but I have got a lot on my plate. I know you are anxious for that next chapter but first they do have to resolve their morning differences. It won’t be long now and thanks for being here.
Mush1912, It’s nice to know that you thought enough of this story to get sleep deprived.. I hope you are all caught up. As for this story getting more attention, I don’t know how. The only outside hook I have to bring readers in is the plot summary and I do my best to attract attention there. Thanks for your concern though and if you have any good promotional ideas, please let me know.

i sympathise jurefesa – i had a few nights where i was thinking i’ll just read one more chapter before i go to bed…2 hrs later still reading, damn sissee for making the story so addictive and i totally agree about it not getting the attention it deserves, we’ll have to get an ad on the site and tell people to read it!! btw sissee…a post would be nice????!!!
