    The Art of Chemistry (4)

Alice had to laugh again. “Okay, okay. My friend’s having this big crazy party, so we can go to that.”

“And is … Tina gonna be there?”

“Uh huh,” Alice smiled, knitting a scarf with the phone on her shoulder. “So wear something awesome – I’m thinking power suit.”

“And I’m thinking that’s not your decision to make,” Bette chuckled, combing her hands through her hair. “Listen, I’ve gotta go. I’ll talk to you tomorrow for the details about this party, okay?”

“This party’s gonna be so crazy. You’re gonna love it.”

    “Goodnight Alice.”

    “Will this day ever end?”

Tina was grumbling to herself as she got out of her car and walked into the building of her apartment. She had been struggling with a terrible headache all day, and all she wanted was the warmth and the comfort of her bed.

Just as she reached her floor, and was searching for her keys, her phone rang.

    “Hello?”

“Okay, so I know you like hate me right now or whatever-”

    “Alice?”

“But I really wanted to invite you to a party next weekend. It’s gonna be crazy, and wild, and-”

Tina nervously played with her keys as she reached her door, eyes wandering over the lock. “Is uh … is Bette gonna be there?”

“You guys are like jam on ham!”

Tina scrunched her brows as she let herself in, trying not to laugh into the phone. “We’re like what?”

“I meant peanut butter and jam. PB&J. You get it. The thing is that I want you both to be friendish, and not arguing, k?”

    “We don’t argue, Alice.”

“Tina, it sucks that my wacky cousin and my best friend are always pissed at each other,” Alice whined.

“I’m your wacky cousin?” Tina laughed, pulling open her fridge as she could hear Alice eating loudly on the other hand. Wacky Alice. “So this party’s on Friday?”

“Oh yeah, but don’t wear a business suit – I don’t want you and Bette to match. You guys argue enough as it is.”

As her heart started to race, Tina put her hand over her chest and smiled. “She’s wearing a suit? Like … a blazer?” She hoped Alice would fill in some of the details.

    2. Love this story and to know that it really did happen to two people that fell in love and have a life together is wonderful. Life is often that. We meet someone and don’t know just how to proceed to talk with them and we lose that connection because of the shyness or just not knowing if you should try to talk with them because you don’t know if you’re gonna get your head knocked off or what will happen. Keep the chapters coming. Enjoying it. Hope our two can get everything cleared up and start to date. Thanks for posting.
