    The Gathering 01.26 – Lazy Afternoon In Court

                “Samantha Leigh Vance!”

                “I should NEVER have told you my middle name.”  Sam blurted out grabbing Shane and kissed her quickly, feeling her pulse quickening at the mere touch of Shane’s hands on her hips.  She grinned into the kiss, as did Shane.

                “There are a lot of things I don’t know about you.  Yet.”  Shane stated they’d been volleying questions back and forth at one another for the last week.

                “I should be at work you do know that don’t you?”  Sam asked as they entered the court room.  Sam shuddered for some reason she didn’t like court rooms.

                “Thanks for coming you two it means a lot to Dana and me.”  Alice said, popping herself between the two lovers.  Parting them like the red sea.

                “You just grabbed my *****.”  Shane said giving Alice a look of astonishment.

                “Me too.”  Sam snorted and they both laughed.  Alice just wiggled her blonde eyebrows and walked towards the front of the court room.

                Sam sat in the last bench and Shane shook her head back and forth.  The tomboy stood up, grabbing her Romeo’s hand and letting her bring her to the front of the room.  She looked up at the dark wood on the ceiling, trying to center herself.

                Bette appeared next talking away on her cell phone.  She was very agitated and animated Jenny was one step behind her.  Sam motioned for Jenny to come and sit by them.

                “How’s the writing going?”  Sam asked her voice soft and gently.

                “Not badly at all, thank you for asking.  I just sent out my last revision, I should know in a while if they are going to publish it or not.”  Jenny smiled broadly being happy to have finally put the finishing touches on it.

                “Sam.”  Bette whispered from behind her putting a soft hand on the young woman’s shoulder to get her attention.

                “Uh huh, was my name last time I looked, hi Bette.”  Bette grinned quickly;

                “I have a favor to ask you later?”  Sam looked at Shane who shrugged her slight shoulders.  She didn’t know anything.

    1. oh yeah what if??? That’s THE question right? Anyway, Shane just saved Dana’s day! But it left her with some questions for her own to figure out, just like Sam. A little comment on the poem at the end of this chapter: I soooo loved it, very emotional and so deep. It gives me something to think about too. Thank you J, you’re as awesome as always!

    2. ‘What ifs?’, can be depressing depending on your current situation. (No need to explain that) Since I haven’t figured out if Sam was just talking out loud or full of regret, I’m guessing the former. Shane shouldn’t feel like C.J. will be a cloud in their relationship. Sam relationship w/ C.j. helped her be the great chick she is today. Tonya was hilarious – true to form, glad she got busted though.
