The Gathering 01.26 – Lazy Afternoon In Court

“Um, uh huh.”  Feeling like playing the dumb jock ***** today, she was skipping work and she didn’t like that.  She hadn’t missed a day’s work since the day C.J. had died.

“Are you ok?”  Bette asked seeing a rather distance look on the doctor’s face.

“Yeah, just don’t like these places.”  Shane laughed.

“Most people don’t like hospitals and if you had a choice you’d live there.”  Snorted Sam’s androgynous girlfriend.

“I dislike lawyers.”  Sam shrugged she turned and looked at the clock, seeing Marina and Lara walking in together.

“Um, is it me or is Marina here with Lara?”  A confused tone of voice overtook Sam’s voice as she motioned for Jenny to turn around.

“Lara is the new chef at the Planet.  Wonderful isn’t it?”    Sam looked at Shane they both shrugged and Bette was open mouthed.

“Ladies.”  Marina said, taking a place behind Sam, Shane and Jenny.  Bette scooted over and let them settle in.  Bette tried to call Tina’s cell phone, but got her voice mail instead.

“Hey red.”  Shane said nodding to Lara who grinned as she saw Sam wrapping her fingers around Shane’s in a familiar gesture.

“Well it’s about ***** time…”  Muttered Lara and Jenny giggled and got on her knees on the bench and pulled Marina to her, kissing her softly, their tongues touching ever so gently as Jenny pulled away.

“Get a room…”  Sam quipped sending Alice into a fit of laughter because that was usually her line.  She knew full well that Shane would be the first to do something in public; Sam would have to get used to that wild side of her new life with her new love.

Tina appeared at Bette’s side, nibbling on her ear as a welcome.  Bette moaned aloud, and Tina continued down her neck.

“Not you too…”  Sam muttered rolling her grey eyes at the public displays of affection.

“When did you become a prude?  I would dare you but you still wouldn’t.”  Shane  said squinting at Sam.  Sam shrugged and looked around, feeling a bit wicked suddenly.  With a glint in her eye she pushed Shane down onto the bench; hovering over her and Shane laughed seductively.  “Yeah, like this is going to happen…”  Sam covered her mouth with her own, forgetting for a moment that they were in a court room, tasting Shane’s succulent mouth with her own.  Nibbling softly at Shane’s lower lip; making the young woman gasp softly.

    1. oh yeah what if??? That’s THE question right? Anyway, Shane just saved Dana’s day! But it left her with some questions for her own to figure out, just like Sam. A little comment on the poem at the end of this chapter: I soooo loved it, very emotional and so deep. It gives me something to think about too. Thank you J, you’re as awesome as always!

    2. ‘What ifs?’, can be depressing depending on your current situation. (No need to explain that) Since I haven’t figured out if Sam was just talking out loud or full of regret, I’m guessing the former. Shane shouldn’t feel like C.J. will be a cloud in their relationship. Sam relationship w/ C.j. helped her be the great chick she is today. Tonya was hilarious – true to form, glad she got busted though.
