The Gathering 01.69 – The Gathering ReDux – Pt. 17

Jayden had told her, over the course of the month that they’d been friends, that she felt a moral obligation to her parents.  She was their only daughter as they so often told her.  She’d kept secret and rather sporadic contact with her sister.  Gleaming only that, she was always happy with her relationship with Sam, having nothing but good and loving things to say to Jayden about her.  Jayden had formed her opinion about Sam from her parents views and thoughts; then her own when they’d been called and told that C.J. was on her death bed.  Sam had gotten the doctor to make that call, to C.J. her parents and sister had been dead and buried the day they’d outcast her for being in love with the med school tomboy.

Lara empathized for Jayden; who was squeezing fresh orange juice and humming a song to herself as Lara stood; arms crossed with a grin on her face watching.

Jayden had left the country a mere 6 days after her sisters untimely death.  She’d signed up to be a traveling nurse, in every country you could fathom and some that Lara had never heard of.  Jayden had explained that she needed to give something back; to make some sort of amends for her treatment of her sister.  Lara thought the woman needed to find herself, punish herself or both.  She had a lust for life; on par with Sam‘s.

Lara stepped into view and Jayden grinned.

“Good morning flat mate.”  Lara looked at her with a question in her mouth, but Jayden waved a hand and chuckled.

“Flat mate, room mate.  I roomed with this English doctor for a few months; she was full of the quotes and sayings.  Sometimes I had to ask for a translator for what she was saying.  A truly complex woman.”  Jayden said, and Lara listened, something she did well.

“Want some?”  Lara nodded; a stark change of pace since she was always the cook of whatever duo she’d been in.  Lara the Chef.  It was what her mother called her.  It was what everyone called her from time to time.

“Are you always up at the crack of the day?”  Asked Lara, tasting the pancakes and finding them rather good.  Fresh blueberries and strawberries garnished the plate.  She was impressed with the straight girl.

    1. WTF! Why’d Sam & Jayden get there so damn early? The second time around was great but if Sam dies, then it really sucked (no offense to your storytelling J – thats excellent).

    2. J, I’ve had a shitty day to begin with and now you give me this??!!! You cannot let Sam die, please don’t do this to me, or to Shane!!!! I’ve never begged before, but I’m doing so now!!!
