    Chapter 14

    LA 2029

    “What the hell is going on in here” Bette said, she had heard the screams from the kitchen, like a red rag to a bull her eyes were drawn to the source of the commotion and Al’s bloody nose “What happened to you”

    “My nose is broken that’s what happened” Alice replied

    Bette passed her some tissues “Here your dripping on the floor and making a mess”

    “Can someone go fetch Lardy, I need proper medical attention here”

    Tina asked the twins to run next door and see if Shane was at home.

    A minute later Shane arrived

    “Oh thank god, nurse I’m more worried about blood on the floor here thinks a tissue heals a broken nose and let me tell you her bedside manner sucks” Al said pointing an accusing finger in Bette direction.

    Shane smiled “Let me have a look” She quickly inspected and apart from a little bruising it appeared nothing was broken. “It’s fine Al, you’ll live”

    Al was far from satisfied with that diagnosis it hurt like hell “Come on Lardy get out your little gadgety thingamajig and have a proper look” Al demanded.

    Shane pulled a devise from her back pocket and ran the portable scanner slowly down Al’s nose, happy that nothing was indeed broken.

    Shane using the well mastered face of impending doom “Mmmmm” she said taking a step back.

    “Don’t give me that usual doctor bullshit spit it out I can take it, it’s broken isn’t it, I’m disfigured for life, Dana is going to leave me because she can’t bear my ugliness, Shane please put me out of my misery” Alice begged.

    “No, it’s not broken but you are as ugly on the inside as you are on the outside” Shane laughs until she spots the infamous family album lying on the floor, she throws a look towards Bette who immediately heads out of the room ignoring Al’s accusations that she gained her medical degree at Disneyland, she follows Bette.

    Shane finds Bette in her bedroom crying “Bette”

    “I can’t lose her Shane, I can’t live without her” Bette dropped her head in her hands.
