“Thank you Alice – I think that what we saw there was the debut of our two new speechwriters – Ally and Jo are English and they have the typical sense of humour inbred in that great race. What pleases me is that if they can make Alice funny they might even do the same for me. The election is just over a year away and we are seeking a mandate for a second term. A second term that will be the most radical ever undertaken by a democrat President .I have been lucky enjoy to fall in love with a woman who makes me happier than I believed was possible. This experience has made me realise the biggest difference between us and the opposition. They preach the politics of hate and division — we must not do the same. We must avoid the gutter tactics that they will employ. We have a record that they cannot spin as failure . So they will employ the tactics of hatred and difference – they will paint themselves as the true patriots of this country. We are better than that – we should all stand together and proclaim that we may be different – we may have different skin colour, body shape, sexual orientation and beliefs but more unites this great country than divides us. God bless this great country – thank you – enjoy the rest of your evening speech free “

I sit down to another round of applause – the applauses grows

louder and I get up again to acknowledge the ovation. Tina is beaming with pride — I take her hand and pull her close. We wave together.

“How was the speech ? “ I ask turning my head to her

“Stunning – you are brilliant “

“You make me who I am “

    **********************************************

About an hour later I have been talking to a couple of the Cabinet secretaries. I end the conversation and go in search of Tina. I cannot see her anywhere

“Madam President “ Lucy appears — this is her first official function that she has attended as my personal assistant. She is wearing a very nice charcoal grey business suit and looks like a younger version of her sister

    1. Oh damn it all to Hell! I need a ciggy and they haven’t even done anything yet! I wonder if I can somehow persuade Pres. Porter into letting me borrow her fiancee for my next birthday? Nahh I can’t come between them (unless they want a 3-way with me). ;)

    2. Always loving your story!! AS soon as I saw your summary for the fic I knew what was going to happen. I just thought like Marilyn, Tina was going to do it at the party!! lol. Also everyone is worried about Tina’s past coming out of the woodwork once elections start up, but what about Bette’s although we have already dealt with one of her ex’s doesn’t mean that the other will be happy to see her happy and married. THe one married? I mean she could just as easly try to bust Bette out with we had an affiar and make Bette look bad!! Just my crazy thoughts carry on!!

    3. hey ally, how are you doing? I hope things are going better for you. Love this story, I just think Bette is still a bit obsessed with Tina even when she is working..Our wonderful President Porter needs to think about the rest of us ONCE in a while!! I loved Alice’s speech, and Marilyn Monroe’s/Tina’s rendition of Happy Birthday is wholesome, huh? So thats what we’re calling it now??? :) :) Help a yank out here..what is fried bread? do you mean French toast? BUT I now know what toast soldiers are! You see the educational value of your story, ally, historical and culinary!!

    4. Great touch with the English speech writers. Those two are totally rocking. Just think if they could write for the President then hell they could write for my favorite show and do a much better job with Bette and Tina. Besides we all know that Tina does love Bette.

    5. excellent post! i like it so much and Tina surprise was terrific! i hope the President will enjoy so much her presents! i like see them more relax and loveling.

    6. Really, really, really great chapter. Don’t get depressed by what season 3 is offering, IC must realise by know that the best writers are in the fan fic section of the l word website.

    7. Ally, I just loved this chapter and once again your humor–great. I just hope that the POTUS reads very carefully the speeches her new speechwriters give her, because you never know what they will come up with. The happy birthday Marilyn imitation was perfect and yes can’t wait to see how Bette gets her out of that dress also.

    8. I am so happy that you didn’t end this story. It is one of my favorites. Thank GOD for our English writers. S3 was unbearable, which is why I depend so much on fan fic. Tina singing to Bette in a Marilyn Monroe fashion…very nice. I can’t wait to read about the other “presents” Tina has in store for the birthday girl. Post again soon.

    9. Hmmm. English writers in the White House. Kind of makes me nervous. I remember a story in which you guys torched the place. Can we trust you now? Tina should have done her Monroe (not the president) impersonation at the dinner. Not only would she have earned tons of great press, but she’d also have Bette supremely hot and bothered by the time they got to the limo.

    10. Yeeha!! English Clamish Scriptwrites Rule!! You gonna let us know how Tina gets outta that dress, never mind how she got in it for godsake! Great Chappie mate x

    11. Ally, I watched the show a bit longer than you. 10 minutes max…lol… I was watching Billy Elliot, I only switched channel at the news break. Man… They have changed Alice to a lunatic. *sigh* I think I will just stick with the fan fics. Great chapter… thanks for posting. :)

    12. ally, you are cracking me up. Ally and Jo the new speech writers…that would be awesome. Bring that British Humour to the States. Loved it and I can’t wait until the next chapter. Madame President remove that dress.

    13. I think Tina singing ahhpy b-day in that dress is probably the best b-day gift she could have hoped for. I’m glad to see that Bette and Shane are back to their old relationship. They can talk about Tina openly and Shane’s seems to have gotten over her cush on the POTUS (or at least she is hiding i better). Too bad Bette and Tina couldn’t have all the senior staff sitting at the their table during the b-day bash-I’m sure they would’ve had more fun but at least they got kick out of Alice’s toast. You need to post soon and finish up what happened it the presidential boudoire(sp??) that night. What a lucky lucky president!

    14. Ally, That was just genius. Having Tina do a Marilyn for Bette was a perfect Bithday treat. And after Alice’s hilarious speech. It did have the sensibilities of a Harvard Roast. Now, how do you follow up this awesome chapter? With some hot loving I know. Let the good times roll and Tina outta that constricting dress. Surely breathing must be difficult for her. Brilliant observations and characterisations. More please. Soon! Thank you for this doucble pleasure. Your Loyal Fan.

    15. all, youu never cease to amaze me. your amusing ideas just keep coming.you know more US history fragments than we have all forgotten.you give us heat, sizzle, sweetness and smarts all within a great story. i’m so hooked. sue

    16. If you hated the 1st episode, the rest will have you ready to rake your nails across a chalk board- i refuse to buy this season. With the way you left this, I’m hoping for a NC17 next… go Tina go!
