The letter on the subway

Chapter 5
Bette extended her hand towards the inside of the space, inviting Tina to walk on through to her office. She stepped slightly ahead of her to lead the way.
Tina’s heart was beating unusually fast. She put it down to nerves, she was here after all for a job interview.
Her eyes fell on the woman in front of her. She could not help but notice once more the brunette’s incredible figure. She admired the gentle swaying of her hips as the gallery owner walked on. Her stride was precise and measured, even and unhurried, she strolled….no …..she almost glided across the floor. Tina’s stride echoed that of the brunette and was punctuated by the clicking of Bette’s towering heels on the wooden floor. Her stride was almost worthy of that of the fashion catwalks.
Tina’s imagination ran wild for a split second as she imagined the powerful slender legs which were hidden under the tight fitting dress, her eyes ran along the back of the shapely calf and ventured upwards finally resting on the incredibly perfect rounded curves of her …
She did not notice when Bette stopped suddenly at the door of her office and literally collided with her.
She lost herself in an awkward apology, mumbling something about looking at the space as they had entered the gallery. It was then she noticed that the area was totally devoid of any artwork. She blushed profusely and hurried inside the office avoiding the interrogating looks from the brunette.
She chastised herself about making an absolute dreadful first impression. She looked as the brunette walked in the room behind her and settled herself behind the glass desk, reclining in her black leather armchair.
"Please take a seat, Miss Kennard" Bette said pointing to one of the low armchairs in front of the desk.
Tina complied with the polite request and sank in the soft leather. She retrieved her CV from her handbag and offered it to the brunette.
There was silence for a while as Bette ran her eye over the neatly typed summary of Tina’s academic and work history. She made a couple of appreciative noises along the way coupled with admiring eyebrow raises.

really nice story PPS
oh. oh. what will happen now? this is gonna be great! i reeeeaaalllly L O V E this story. rarely, do i stumble across a story so simple yet riviting in context, that it just makes me, for lack of a bettre term, “wanting for more”. the characterzation of the people on the subway rides…great visual. multiple thumbs up for this story!thanks for taking the time to share and can’t wait to read more on the letter, the art and tina’s art.
very pleased to see the update hope Tina fesses up
“Oh what a tangled web we weave, When first we practise to deceive!” This is going to be fun and interesting!
Oh shit!! As we say in french, that is one hell of a quiproquo! THis is awesome, I look forward to more to see how it turns out :D
Oh what a twist! I am so happy to see an update from you. You really do write very well and I have come to admire your work overtime.
How fabulous!Let’s go!
OMG!! where’s the rest i can hardly wait….!! thanks kins!!:D
Please don’t let Bette focus on trying to get together with Dana and ignoring the wonderful Tina who is right in front of her. The charade needs to end…I afraid for both of their hearts!
Ooooh…… So how? What happen then? OMG, such a teaser to make me want more!! :-D PPVS?! :-) thanks!
Really great story.Thank you for the update.
OMG! Tina what have you done? PPS I can’t wait to see what happens next.
“Oh what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive.” Love this story. Hope there is some way for Tina to get Dana out of this predicament, and confess that the paintings are hers as well as the letter. God, this ride is gonna be fun and I can hardly wait to see what happens next. I think just from this one meeting that Bette will suspect that Dana is not the artist nor the writer once she begins to talk since Tina has already told her so eloquently that she dabbles in the astract. And I think once Bette talks to her more she will discover who the real artist is, Tina. Gosh I love this. Thanks so much for posting. PPS
AFter reading the chapter my very first thought with a low and slow grinning, Ahhhhhhhh, was “what a tangled web…” and I see that Azmama also had the same first thought. Great minds and all that. Love this.
Wow. So Bette will think its Dana. And Dana won’t have a clue. Neither will Tina. This is getting more interesting by the post can’t wait for more. Great detail about the leg cleavage ha ha that made me chuckle. And more importantly visualise this! Can’t wait for more I’m still hoping for a reply via the subway though really holding out for that! Ppvs Caramel
Devilish plan! Can’t wait to see how you will sort out this!
Oh, please, let’s end the charade right now, so Bette knows who the real artist is and the writer of the letter! Love this story.
Well, that’s the kind of interview every job-seeker would wish to go through… With that same employer that is! ;) I’m not too worried about Bette being infatuated with Dana. Love the poor girl, but I don’t think that Bette will be fooled for too long. But the whole thing is bound to be extremely interesting! Thanks.
Uh Oh, now Tina will have to some how let Bette know that it is her and not Dana who wrote the letter. Can’t wait to see how this story plays out.
Ooooh…… So how? What happen then? OMG, such a teaser to make me want more!! :-D PPVS?! :-) thanks!
Well I am loving this story. But now Bette is going to think that Dana was the one :( who wrote the letter. Looking forward to more soon.
Oh nooooo. Now she’s thinking that Dana is her soul mate. This is going to get very interesting.
Oh you are good! My laptop just had a coffee shower. The mere image of Bette trying to woo Dana. Thank you for making my Monday morning a very funny one. On to the presentation of the portfolio, please!
OMG?..This can’t be happening.. Dana and Bette?…ok…I’ll just wait and don’t think ahead of me…but.. Dana and Bette?..
Hi kins40, Sorry as I haven’t been around much lately however I am back and have now caught up with this new adventure. How beautiful and delicate it is. The wondrous letter and now Bette and Tina have met. There was an instant attraction and palpable electricity as Tina spoke about her love and feelings for Art. This totally entranced Bette. Now Dana has arrived in Tina’s place and the major misunderstanding has occured. Bette thinks that Dana has written the letter. Wow-wee such farce. I can’t wait to read how this all plays out. Great times ahead. More please as soon as you can. Thank you for another fabulous fan fiction and making me smile all day long. Your Loyal Fan.
OMG..bette thinks she has found her writer… well she has… thisis getting so good…wonder how bette is going to handle this new info… can’t wait for more…pps
