The Long and Winding Road chp 37
Alice said in frustration – she was watching Bette and could see how she was holding back the pain. Alice was wondering if she was the only one who was scared – well that was not true – she knew by the looks on their faces that Lara and Shane were scared and Tina — well Tina looked like she was just about to throw up she was so afraid for Bette and their waiting-to-be-born child.
In a few minutes — Helena returned
“I have emailed every emergency service and everyone in my address book – with luck someone will pick it up and try to get someone here for Bette “
Helena looked at Bette and saw the pain shooting across her face . She knew that the baby was not going to wait for a nice sterile hospital room to make his arrival. Trying to get to the hospital in her jeep was the worst thing that they could do.
She had looked up the weather on the internet and seen the speed of the gusts that were hammering into LA at that moment. They had no transport that was heavy enough to go out in that storm – to try was to put the driver and Bette and the baby in too great a risk.
“I really want to start to push “ Bette declared
Tina held on tight to Bette’s hand and kissed her brow
“It is going to be okay — I promise “
“Okay listen up “
Helena had managed to quell her own rising fears and assess the situation while she had been on her computer. She had looked up as many birthing sites as possible and she thought that they could handle this situation
“Bette – we are trying everything we can do to get you help, but you know that the likelihood of an ambulance arriving before the baby is not that high ? “
There was a silence that was only broken by the howling of the wind outside the house

Yea, baby Porter is here!!! What are you going to name him, Ally? May I suggest Christopher Edison Porter-Kennard?
Beautiful!!
Oh my god you are the greatest, and since city girl is breaking our Tibette heart this as always is Heaven, maybe even Life!
Awesome delivery…awesome writing can’t wait to see what happens next.
phew… i was worried..you set the stage for a possible hair raising birth.so glad the baby and & Bette are fine. please don’t have Bette name him Melvin Jr.!! sue

Wow this is wonderful and happy the baby is here, is so beautiful and you got me crying here. Ok post soon please, thanks!
We have a baby, That was so great. Just hope that everything turns out great for the three of them, The gang did great, Helena should be the Godmothershe did a wonderful job. thanks to bed I go. thanks again
How exciting! And The Brit comes to the rescue! Helena is actually nice in your story. It’s amusing how squeamish the girls are and how they didn’t want to touch Bette’s yoni under these circumstances. Pretty funny and ironic!!
He’s hairy………..LMAO! Well finally, thebaby is here. I thought his birth would never happen. This is a moment they will all remember for the rest of their lives!!
Will wonders never cease? They have their healthy baby boy. That is the most thrilling moment of your life and one thwy will all remember. what a story he will hear about his birth with his very strong yet very squeamish aunts crying and laughing about it all. great story. thanks.
Great writing Ally, your Alice is sooo funny. I really like your humor, I think you’re an amazing woman.
This was most excellent! Helena needs to look into a career as a midwife! HA! SO this means we’re all godparents! Loved this can’t wait for more!
That was UNBELIEVABLE, thank you!
Don’t forget the placenta will be on the way next, maybe Alice can be stood with baited breath to wait with open hands for that to make an appearance!!
great job, Ally. I would die without the epidural..just the wimp that I am.
They did a great job, but lets not forget to tie off the umbilical cord. Oh yeah Jobadge, the deliverary of the placenta should gross Alice, Laura, and mabe Shane out. LOL
I thought Lara was going to fall over as soon as she walked into the room. LOL My mom almost broke my dad’s hand while in labor with me. xD I had to come out via c-section. Thank god Bette didn’t need that.
Okay Ally, I guess I owe you this one. I said that you would never put a baby in any of your stories and you said if you did that I would have to apologize to you on the site. So here it is my friend—-I am on my knees begging for your forgiveness oh great author that you are and I am sorry that I ever doubted you. It will never happen again. Only one other thing to say—at least my challenge got you to write it. See I can be devious when the need arises. LMAO!!! Oh and by the way this was a great chapter and as far as mistakes—didn’t see any. I can’t wait for the next chapter. Thanks Ally! Your Loyal Friend, Ruth
They baby is here! yes! Helena did a wonderful job, and Bette was so brave! i know this wasn’t the way Bette wants a delivery but the point is that the baby is fine
that was awesome…..and funny……..i like the humor in it……we have a baby boy……and tina and bette are all cryin with joy……awwww……and “HAIRY”……RFLMFAO……gotta love alice…….
yay! baby porter-kennard is here! really enjoyed this one, ally.. i’m glad i could finally catch up with your recent chapters :) can’t wait to read more
Wow!! Bette was one lucky lady to have all of her friends to help her get through the birthing process. It took teamwork to help this baby boy to enter this earth.
This was a delight to wake up to. Thanks Ally!!
Et voila! He’s here! Time for Helena to retrieve a couple of bottles of very good champagne from the cellar. For a second I thought you were going to send Tina off to the “boil water” detail. Isn’t that what happens to all hysterical spouses in this situation? Bette was very brave. Congratulations to all.
congratulations everyone, it’s a BOY!!! LOL finally he arrived and in such circumstances…i think without helena they all would faint LOL
Wow! So it’s a boy! LOL :)) Thank god the baby is fine. Helena was really fantastic.
Ally, I read this first about 3:30 this morning and it was thrilling to read. Now I want to add that with Alice’s last statement…”Porter can never do anything like the rest of the population-it seems her son is the same.” That statement alone gives you a whole other story to write with that statement as your theme. Of course you must finsih this story first. But now you have another one possibly based in England and America. Am I right ladies?
Wow! Baby Boy! Great job A! I was hanging to every word of this story. finally, there is a sense of hope and new beginning for this two. Thank you Cliffy master, i always knew that you can pull this off, you’re a great writer writer, never second guess that.
