“How you feeling?” Alex asks, seeing Shane still holding her side.

“Not good” Shane says forcing a smile.

“Let’s get you to the nurse’s office” Alex says walking away.

“Wait, Alex shouldn’t we talk about what just happened?”

“Why?”

“Because when the Governor finds out he’s gonna kill us” Alex’s heart sank, she hadn’t thought about him.

“We have to get out of here” Alex says desperately.

“Hiding won’t help, he’ll find us”

“No, I didn’t mean hide. I was thinking more about running away from this hell hole” Alex explains, pacing the floor.

“What?”

“Your right he will kill us and me for one doesn’t want to be around to see how far he decides to go” Shane lowers her head. “Shane look at me, this isn’t a crazy plan. We both hate it here, the answer is to leave”

“And go where?” Shane reasons.

“Anywhere, anywhere has to be better than here”

“What about money?”

“We’ll get jobs, sure they’ll be shit at first but we’ll work our way up and then we’ll get enough money to rent a flat and then we’ll buy the flat” Alex says excitedly.

“Your crazy” Shane laughs.

“No it’ll be crazy to stay here after what happened” The two friends look at each other seriously, deciding silently if they were really going to go through with their plan.

“Let’s do it” Shane finally agrees.

“Awesome” Alex shouts.

They organized a plan for their escape right there in the locker room, they would go about their business as if everything was normal. Alex would go see Ms Richards and Shane would see the nurse, then they’d meet back at their room, to pack their things.

Then before lights out they’d jump out their window, they were on the ground floor so it would be easy to do. There was a large fence round the home, however both Shane and Alex knew of a hole big enough for them both to fit through. Then they’d be free, something they hadn’t been for along time.

Everything went according to plan, it was 5 minutes before lights out when Alex went to open the window.
