“Thanks.”
“Hydration is the key to successful party0going.” Bronwyn settled in on Tina’s couch, resting her feet on the coffee table.
“Hey! Feet!”
“I thought you didn’t like this furniture.”
“I don’t but that doesn’t mean I want it banged up.”
“I must admit, this office is great. I can’t believe you have your own shower.”
“You’re not leaving while I shower, are you?” a resigned Tina asked.
“I may order Chinese.”
“Bron.”
“You are getting fed at the shindig.”
“There’s some yogurt in the fridge.”
“Yogurt!” Bronwyn snorted. “Where’s the good stuff?”
“Cabinet above the refrigerator,”
Bronwyn ignored the yogurt and went straight to the snacks. “Pop Tarts?”
“I like them,” Tina shrugged before she entered her en suite for her shower.

Tina finally began her drive to the Bette Porter Gallery.
Bronwyn had stayed while Tina was in the shower and while she was getting dressed.
Tina enjoyed the large office with a private bath that had accompanied her promotion. Without that bath, she would have had to leave the office early to get ready for the dinner or would have been dressing at her gym’s locker room.
It had been the first time she had used the office shower and it had felt odd to be naked in her office. It had been even weirder to have Bronwyn camped out on her office couch, helping her get ready, as if she were in her childhood bedroom getting ready for a big date.
Tina had checked the traffic report before she had left her office and had plotted a route to avoid a logjam that had been reported. She glanced at the car clock to reassure herself that she had plenty of time.
Earlier that day, when Eric wanted to cancel, she had changed his mind with a few compromises—she would pick him up to take him to the dinner and drive him back to his office when they left. This allowed him to work in the car. She had also agreed to feign a headache after an hour so that they could leave early and he could get back to the office.

Tina, it is in very bad taste to be smooching and hugging Eric within potential view of Bette. I hope Bette didn’t see. She may over-react as usual and change the seating chart to have Tina sit at the opposite obscure end of the dinner table. Spumoni, please update soon. My heart is in my mouth.
The things Tina does for Eric? When Eric wanted to bail on the dinner? Sure, Tina. Girlcrush, Eric… the moment of truth is coming, and Tina won’t have either of those excuses to hide behind soon. This, Spumoni, was a great chapter, and Tina and Bronwyn are a great example of why I love your stories. Now then. I can’t wait for the next round of “plodding” (why do you say that anyhow? Upon the long ago recommendation of a good and perspicacious friend, I began reading your wonderful “Humminger” story Saturday evening. I started at chapter 11…went quickly back to chapter 1…and could not stop reading! Your writing is lovely and compelling! Your story is wonderful!
