    Bette comes to a decision.

    Bette was still standing and she eyed her lawyer cautiously. Joyce rose from her seat and the two shared eye contact as pale blue eyes twinkled with excitement.

    "Okay, you’re gainfully employed and it doesn’t hurt us that your daughter is the spitting image of you. You didn’t give birth to her, but she looks like you did. That’s a significant advantage and it will be in our best interest to continue to show the court that your presence is necessary in her life. Tina is her birth mother. But Tina is also white. She’s involved with a white man. She living in a white world and Angelica will have very little exposure to people that look like her if you are not a part of her life.”

    "On top of that, we will use your abduction of Angelica to our advantage. Tina’s attorney will try to paint the picture of you being a reckless control freak. But we will show another side. You were a desperate mother wanting nothing but the best for your infant daughter and her safety and well being was more important to you than anything else. You were willing to sacrifice your freedom for the well-being of your child. And when you cooled down and realized that Angelica needs both of her parents, you delivered your infant daughter to her other mother. Not only that, but you delivered her to a home your ex-partner now shares with a man she became involved with during the course of your eight-year relationship."

    Angus exhaled slowly and said, "Damn. You are good."

    Joyce winked at him, smugness coated her smile.

    Kit, Joyce, and Angus continued to chat, mapping out the story they would pull together. Joyce sat back down and starting writing furiously on her yellow legal pad. The trio was oblivious to the fact that Bette was standing back, her eyes glossing over, a knot forming in her belly.

    The hurt gripped her again.

    She tried to avoid it as often as she could, but the hurt always seemed to return. Tina had been her muse, her best friend, her lover, and inspiration. Even though she’d faltered by bedding Candace, Bette had never stopped loving Tina. She’d tried desperately to win her partner’s heart back, but no matter how hard she worked on repairing them, no matter how many ways she pleaded, Tina’s heart was closed to her.

    3. I appreciate the quick posting which makes it much easier to follow the story line and maintain interest.I don’t agree w/Bette’s decision b/c the longer Tina is w/Henry, the closer Angie gets to him.

    8. So glad you’re back with another story. i’m hooked already. Hopefully, Bette is doing the right thing and giving Tina not only time to “cool off”, but also to see they really should be back together as the family they always dreamed of being. PPS! :)

Tina had really done the dirty on her former lover.As a TiBetter, I do hope that they can rebuild their relationship however now is the time for Bette to heal and re-affirm herself.I can’t wait to read more.
