Unusual Meeting – Chapter 9
They led Tina to the couch, where she sat between Jennifer and Bette. Bette finished the rest of the story for them. After she had calmed down, Bette told her that she should go change clothes into her pj’s so she could try to relax.
“We left Tina’s car at her work. Can one of you give me a ride to go pick it up?” Bette asked the girls. Tina said, “no, don’t leave me.”
“How about Jennifer and I go pick it up?” Laurel suggested.
“That would be great, thanks” Bette told them.
“We’ll be back in about thirty minutes” Jen said as she got Tina’s spare keys from the kitchen.
Back in the bedroom, Tina was changing clothes as Bette walked in. Bette saw her and immediately turned around to offer Tina some privacy. “Can I get you anything T?” she asked, her back to Tina.
Tina walked up behind her and turned her around, “just hold me”.
Bette pulled Tina close and held her tightly, “for as long as you want me to.”
The couple laid in bed, wrapped in each other’s arms. No words were exchanged, each too busy in their own thoughts of what had happened. I could have been beaten, or raped or worse if Bette hadn’t shown up when she did. Would I have been able to do anything to protect myself or stop what was happening? I don’t want to live in fear for the rest of my life and Bette can’t be here every second. We don’t even live in the same city.
I am so glad I decided to go by and surprise Tina. Thank God I didn’t go right home when I left Kelly’s. It has got to be fate. But what happens next time? As much as I want to, consider it my duty, I can’t be there to protect her 24/7. I hope this doesn’t terrify her to the point that she’s afraid to go out or do anything. All my victim sensitivity training never prepared me for dealing with the love of my life being a victim. I wish I had paid more attention in that damn class!

That was definitely an “OH SHIT!” moment. Learning some self-defense moves is never a bad idea, even really basic ones since in a real situation there’s no time to get fancy.
Glad Tina is safe. When getting off late at night always walk with someone…never take any chances. Love this story please post soon.
