Where You Go There You Are

“Angelica” Bette began in a calm voice that was understated for what she was going to say.  “I didn’t want you to hear about this in this way but I need you to understand that what Alice is talking about is your Mother and I have a past.  It was a past full of love and affections as well as deceit and distrust.  There is so much that can be said on the subject of your Mother and my relationship but for now I’ll just say your Mother is one of a kind.  You see your Mother is the only woman who could ever be the love of my life.”  Here Bette closes her eyes and pauses, letting Angelica know she is speaking from her heart.  “I had the ultimate pleasure of her gracing my life for seven glorious years.  I’m the one who drove her away.”

Tina moved towards Angelica while Bette made her explanation.  She too was caught up in Bette’s account of their past.  From what Alice implied, Tina was more curious then ever what Bette would say.  All of Alice’s flowery announcements all had one common theme, no one has taken her place as far as Bette was concerned.  She stood on the other side of Angelica from Bette and began rubbing Angelica’s back to help calm her.

Bette went on, “How it all happened is immaterial right now but you need to know I recognize your Mother in you the first moment I laid eyes on you.  It was I who called her to tell her you were here.” Bette confesses so Angelica’s anger could be directed at her.

“You called her?” Angelica was chest fallen at this revelation, feeling Bette had betrayed the trust she had placed in her.  “How could you?  We were doing fine weren’t we?  You didn’t have to call her?”  Angelica protested letting Bette know just how upset she was.

Tina stood and listened, impressed with Bette that she would play the heavy when all that could lead to was Angelica not wanting anything to do with her.

Bette plowed on, “Yes I did.  It was the right thing to do Angelica.  But in doing that , it doesn’t change how I feel about you nor how I will always be available for you should you need someone.  But you know your Mother enough to know she was probably scouring the earth for you.  Your Mother’s no dummy, you know calling her was the right thing.”

Angelica looked down at her hands, she knew what Bette was saying was right but still she felt cheated.  Her friend, her find was after all her Mother’s friend first, someone who had betrayed her mother.  Angelica was mad.

Tina read her daughter. “Come on honey, we have a little time.  Let’s all go out into the kitchen and get some breakfast.  It will give us the time to take a step back and get some perspective.”

    1. Poor Angie, she through that she had made so of the best friends anf met the most loving people and coe to find out they knes her Mom, The one that she cared for the most was once her Mom partner. Bette is taking all the blame. Bette heart is breaking. Still have plenty of duct tape left for Alice.Merry Christmas

    2. I can picture Alice grumbling while waling into the house and the stopping, shocked at seeing Alice and I almost got dizzie from the happy dance of Alice and Tina; not to mention all the talking while dancing. I’m loving the shock that is Angelica. Oooh, only if she knew the full story of Bette and Tina. Great, wonderful; Thank you. Merry Christmas.

    3. this just gets better! please, please, please post the rest and the sequel after that!! i can’t wait for an eventual conversation just between bette and tina!

    4. I haven’t commented before – been too busy soaking up every chapter that has come along. However, I couldn’t let this festive season pass without telling you how amazing this story is and at the risk of sounding very greedy (and knowing that you’ve probably got lots else on) – begging you to get them to a happy place before Christmas! Thanks Jwet and Happy Christmas and New Year!!

    5. You have me on the edge of my seat with this. Please let the truth be told finally. I do hope you’ll be able to calm them down enough for Tina to see Bette is still in love with her. Bette cheated death once already, now let her enjoy the family she’s always wanted. Wonderful story!!! PPS

    6. Damn, Jwet, you got this one out early! So NOW Tina wants to get some perspective! Let’s hope she means it, cause with the cat out of the bag and Alice on the seen, she’s going to get it whether or not she wants. They may have to forget reaming Alice for the moment. But I once say a boxing matching where one guy broke another guy’s jaw with a dance like Alice did with Tina.

    7. “It will give us the time to take a step back and get some perspective.”…if only she had done that 16 years ago…i know she was hurt but what she did by running away was drastic…imo as worse as the affair.

    8. Why does Alice talking about her car sound just like Gollum talking about The One Ring? Is her car the ultimate symbol of evil? What’s she driving, anyway?

    9. wow… i don’t think i was breathing while reading that chapter. hope you check everything on your list! Merry Christmas and thank you for the wonderful update!

    10. It’s OK.It’s OK.It’s OK.It’s OK.It’s OK.It’s OK.It’s OK.It’s OK.It’s OK.It’s OK.It’s OK.It’s OK.It’s OK.It’s OK.It’s OK.It’s OK. Angelica will see thourgh it all, she wont be as emotional and angry as Tee and she will see that she doesn’t know the full story. Only the story of love that started with an earring. she shouldn’t be jealous, she had thoughts about hooking Tee and Bette up before hand so, why not now, they already know eachother, and Bette loves Tee so why not get them to fall back in love. A late late late christmas eve gift?! *waits hopefully*
