    Chapter 28

Bette paced the floor.  She has been home for 5 minutes and not knowing where Tina was coming from she had no idea how long it would take to get her here.

Bette wanted to have a better discussion with Tina than the one they just had over the phone.  Getting into an argument with her, slinging accusations back and forth wasn’t going to accomplish anything.  There was so much they needed to discuss, so many feelings and views crashing around Bette’s head.  Of course it would have to all be about Angelica but somehow having Tina walk back into their house, their home had to mean something.  It has to be more than a cruel joke of fate that Angelica ended up with her and Tina was coming to collect her.

For the first time it occurred to Bette that maybe Angelica ran from Tina for a reason and by returning her to Tina she may just do it again.  After all Bette really didn’t know what Tina has been up to for the last 16 years.  That would be disastrous.

Bette now began pacing back and forth in front of the bay window that overlooked the front yard.  Could Tina have put Angelica into some sort of situation …… “No!   No!” Bette shouts to herself.  Angelica is too lovely, too responsive, too full of confidence for a girl her age.  All of these attributes were because of the woman raising her, Bette knew it.  Then what is really going on in Angelica’s head?   Bette owed it to Angelica and Tina alike to get to the bottom of Angelica’s issues.

Bette continues her pacing while thinking back to this morning and Angelica’s comments.  Again Bette wonders if it is about color.  Could her comment about Tina being so light be taken literally or did it mean something else?  What ever the case Bette prays she had enough time to get to the bottom of it.  It’s her heart’s desire to bring the problem out into the open so it can be dealt with in a constructive manner where Angelica wouldn’t be in harm’s way.

To accomplish this rather large feat, Bette realizes that she needs time in order to get Angelica to open up.  Time that’s what she’s going to have to convince Tina to give her.

    2. Well jewt this chapter is as brilliant as all previous chapters. Wow time for Tina to calm down n think rationally n give Bette her due in this matter. Well u r the story teller n I shall await the next chapter impatiently:)PPS

    3. Alrighty then. Got that out of her system. We all understand how overwrought Tina has been and hopefully she can listen now. Have a nice Thanksgiving.

    4. Drama drama drama. Tina should know Bette is on remission hey. I love this story. Thank you for posting so often. I know I am pushing my luck but can we have more pages please?pmsl.

    5. WOW!!!! Tina sure came in with a BANG!!!! Now maybe she will sit and listen. Does Tina know that Bette was very sick and is in remission? Great CHapter!!! Thank you Happy Thanksgiving!!!

    6. ”I thought you were part of Angelica being missing.” Tina says before she doubles over in full fledge tears. ” – Its always nice to see Tina get a lot of dialogue… and maybe now she’ll get a chance to hear Bette.

    7. I’m not a “mom”, and I can only imagine the pain and despair a mom feels losing a child. The older Bette sees; knows this fear; it’s a nice touch to have them “connect” on their own before others intrude. Good thing Tina’s job is flexible where she can work out of LA – hint, hint as to where I hope the story will end. Ha. Ha. Aloha!

    8. Fantastic drama filled chapter, now for some calm discussion? Angelica needs a biracial mother-figure, and Bette needs someone to take care of her, right? Oh it’s never so simple. Can’t wait for more.

    9. I love this Bette, she letting Tina yell and scream at her. Will be so nice when Tina finds out that Angie has not be told a thing. She will be so ashame of herself. That is a Mother for you when a child is in trouble or out of pocket. She will be sick when she finds out that Bette is so ill, Hey you thanks for posting and have a happy tomorrow.
