Window of Opportunity ch.37
I was looking forward to family night but Phyllis called me early Wednesday morning asking me to go to a fundraiser that she wouldn’t be able to attend. I didn’t want to go because of family night but Alice called not too long after to tell me that she had a meeting that she could not reschedule and wouldn’t be there. I made some calls to Kit, Shane and Tina as well as yelled out to James at his desk and we changed it to Saturday instead. I still didn’t want to go to the fundraiser but at least I wouldn’t be missing time with the family. As much as I know Tina didn’t like to attend all my functions with me while I was at The CAC, I was happy that she offered to go with me to this one. It again showed me that we were moving forward with our relationship. I had no real plans of staying long and I didn’t want her to have to scramble for a babysitter. Her offering was more than enough.
I ran home in between work and the fundraiser to change. Tina wasn’t in from work yet so I was only there for a moment. In that time I left her a note telling her that it would be an early evening and I had every intention of having that happen. Phyllis had told me that we don’t receive much money from this event and there was really no reason to kiss ass.
When I arrived it was the same type of crowd that usually attended these events and I made small talk with some colleagues. I wasn’t paying much attention to what was happening and decided to get some air on the patio while I sipped a glass of less than worthy wine. I was surprised when I felt a hand on my shoulder only to look up and see my worst nightmare staring back at me. Candace Jewell was there with a huge smile on her face and her arms open for a hug.
“Candace, what are you doing here?”
“No hug for an old friend?”
“I can’t honestly say what we had was ever a friendship. Excuse me please.”
“Bette, just give me a minute. We’re here in public.”

I am savoring the back-to-back postings. What a treat! I love your writing style and find myself rereading paragraphs. Thanks for all the updates and enjoy the rest of your break!
By some strange coincidence…you often write something that touches deep within my soul and that makes it extremely heartfelt. Amazing. Thank you again for writing.
Great chapter! Nice to see them work through this very difficult situation. Looking forward to the next chapter.
As always another truely amazing post! I so what you mean with the painting and friends and booze…just say you couldn’t decide which color, it worked for me for awhile anyway! lol Hope you had fun at lunch:)
Way to go readers, Thanks NAG for this extra chapter, extra special, extra reading, it’s all good. Md
The od Bette needs to come out at times. Having a temper doesn;t not hurt, Now she will need to get a new phone.so in a way she hurt herself..Glad that Tina was so supportive of Bette then she explain to Bette about what she said It was the doing not what she couldnt control. thanks
Wow, I am sooooo glad that you had some extra time to write this. I am awestruck at your ability to write like this in such a short amount of time. This was a beautiful chapter demonstrating just how far they have come with their communiction. I am always left with wanting more of this story and yet you haven’t teased me once with a cliff hanger…the mark of a really good story teller!
So nice they are ok
Another Great Update!!!! Thanks
Great challenge to the relationship and it all worked out so smoothly — at least for these two. I hope these two get a break though – Kit’s right — they deserve a moment without additional stress. Anxiously awaiting family day and how they are going to tell the girls….
Luv the story. When Bette stood and watched Tina sleep it brought a tear to my eye. Keep up the great work!!!
Talk about drama, that was atough one. I’m glad to see the ladies process thru it in a healthy manner. Great update.
Bette lost it for a second but pulled it together when she saw that Tina was 100% behind her and believed she did nothing to encourage Candace. Great chapter can’t wait for what comes next. PPS
Awesome as usual..yeah painting, BF and wine don’t mix well. I found that out with cooking :) Have fun with your lunch, and just take it easy. Anybody ask about your painting..just say its abstract..:) PPS
another great update! enjoy lunch! wow if candance causes to much trouble the gang will have to step in case tina needs a hand. cuz tina will sure take care of her if need be! :)
You are great. Can’t wait for mor. It’s realy the best way to improve my english. :)

Damn, you scared me. Candace is like fire to me… frightening in a TiBette story. Hopefully they will move on.
Love your story. Thanks a lot. I am to lazy to comment sometimes, but I am always very glad to see next chapter of your story.
GREAT and didn’t they do well in a crisis…thank u; hope u enjoyed your lunch. I’m so into this story. pps
WOW, you’re on a roll, newagegirl! I haven’t even managed to leave a comment yet to your last two, long and enjoyable chapters but then you came up with another good one. Talk about prolificness! I’m really amazed. You write when you’re under pressure from your important project, in the middle of the night when you can’t sleep, when you’re pissed off because of botched weekend plans and before or after painting your kitchen. WOW! I salute you, newagegirl! Btw, a million thanks for granting my requests! You know, I started squealing when I read Tina and Bette’s recollection of the night when they first made love. I was beside myself with joy because that’s what I wanted to read and you granted my wish! And you followed it up with the account of their first out-of-town trip to Moscow, Kentucky! Excuse my language but holy sh*t, this just keeps getting better and betterer!!! This chapter’s a good test for them. Ghosts from their past are bound to haunt them but the difference now is how they react to them, how they handle the tricky situations individually and together. Looking forward to the Saturday barbeque. :> I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the beautiful memories of their rings, their commitment ceremony will be in one of the next envelopes. This could segue way into the bitter, painful memory of the day they stopped wearing those rings. Thanks a lot for this update, newagegirl! And may your Muse continue to inspire you whatever real life crisis or inanities you’re dealing with right now. PPS. :>
