Wings of An Angel – Bette and Tina – Chapter 10
She continued to slowly rock herself back and forth with her head sheltered in her heads, just speaking those words of assurance over and over again. Tina was blind and deaf to the outside world; blind from the sight of Bettes recovered lifeless body enveloped in blood and dust and deaf from the typhoon cry stormed out of Tinas soul as she watched the Angel of Death stand beside her beloved waiting patiently for the last minutes of the twelfth hour to tick Bettes remaining life away. Death was dressed in a black hooded ankle length cloak; sheltering his skeletal bodily bones. His skinless face, hands and feet were the only visible character that could be seen through Tinas tormented eyes. As he silently watched his next victim lying weak and mentally exhausted from her struggle for survival, he challenged Tina to stop him; to give him one reason as to why he shouldnt stake his claim. The last second of the hour approached and Tina had yet to respond to the life saving question that was presented before her. Not waiting another moment more, Death raised his scythe to the eternal starlit night with the intention of ripping Bettes final breathe from her lungs. I love her. Therefore, you cant have her. It wasnt the words that gave him pause to render Bette between life and death, but it was the vocal of which Tina spoke them.
Not everyone had the power to make the Angel of Death second guess himself, but those that did felt compelled to speak of such mercy, caught his attention. In a raspy voice filled with crypt sarcasm he questioned, Do you believe your soul is more important than hers? Are you willing to take her place? An unexpected chill traveled the entire length of Tinas body; traveling within the stream of her blood causing Tina to outwardly shake herself from the invisible hold he had on her. Tina only saw the black abyss of his eyes when she found the courage to look upon the person called to take her partner away. An inward explosive battle was raging between Tina and Death; a war to consume the right of life. My soul exists because of hers. She is the other half of me. You dont take one without the other. We live together. We love together. We will die together. Death gently rested the scythe along the right side of Bettes neck and gave her a hollow look as he slowly guided the curved knife to the left of Bettes neck; causing a trail of blood to be seen shining on the cut metal. Death lifted the essence to his nose and inhaled deeply the core of Bettes life line to determine the strength of Tinas hold on her lovers delayed beating heart.

I liked the confrontation between Tina and the Angel of Death. A different but interesting approach with great tension.
I actually have to agree with slipperynipple. I like this story and love how you don’t just rush through things (unlike IC & Co. since they only have a maximum of 60 minutes a week to play with), but I actually had to keep stopping while reading this so I wouldn’t wear myself out. Introducing the supernatural was a good idea seeing as it would take a miracle for someone to come out of an incident like that alive.
wow, this was a long hiatus for this story…i hope bette will listen to tina and stays alive and get well soon
what Succulent said… but hey it was well worht the wait… so now please don’t make us wait another 3 months plus… great chapter…
I found your story today and spent my afternoon reading it. This is intriguing me. The thing I am most curious about is the little boy, something is weird with that situation. I am wondering if this is going to be an adventure like the movie “What dreams may come.” Will we find the little boy helping Tina face the Angel of Death? This story is also reminding me of Stephen king’s book “Rose Madder.” Although I really enjoy this story and your writing is great I would have to agree with slipperynipple about the length in certain parts. It can take away from the story. other than that I am enjoying it, please continue!
Cool! I seem to be drifting into the dark side of the world lately. The fight between Tina and the Dark Lord was intriguing. The Angel of Life just seemed to stand their and let Tina fight for Bette. The only time that you saw it or it was mentioned was when they were running down the hall and that Angel was running beside Bette. It will take all that Tina can give to Bette to keep her alive. Please post soon.
Good to see you back Leo and this is good chapter. When Tina talk to the Angel of Death is scary, ok glad Bette ok now and hope she will wake up soon. OK post soon please, thanks!
Wow what a drama – great to have you back….

Leo, god damn – you have been gone so long and then you give us the chapter from hell :o)……holy christ this was intense leo – absolutely amazing. Pleas do continue – We so want more, but please not so much drama on the next one eventhought we love it :o) Post soon
Well, so you disappear and then out of nowhere….BANG, after that chapter you once again have our attention…pls don’t ever go away that long again….I will assume that you are busy writing the next, and the next, and the next chapters….as you owe us big time….almost forgot….THANKYOU
Ya know this will be the first time I will write this. The story is good but this was too much. I think I skipped to the ending. The middle took to long and took me along a path I was not very interested in. But believe me this does not mean that the story did not have the desired affect but sometimes less is more. Could of done without some of the death part and the construction site part. Thanks for the story
Three months and thirteen days……..three months and thirteen days is how long you had a woman waiting…(its this how you threat your women)…….LE0, three months and thirteen days………..BUT it was worth the wait………….This chapter by far is your best……The struggle that Tina is going through to keep Bette where she belongs is heart felt…………The fight that she has with the Angel of Death clearly shows how in love she is with Bette and how far she will go to keep her…………..Now PLEASE let Tina win this fight so we can find out the mystery about Bette and Kit………..WE want a happy ending………Now I’ll only waiting THREE HOURS AND THIRTEEN MINUTES this time…………Please continue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
glad youre back a great chapter
Leo, welcome back although it’s been WAY TOO LONG. What an ambitious and complex chapter, thank you! If you ever feel another writer’s block coming on consider writing a simpler 1 or 2 pager to keep the creative juices flowing and keep in touch with your readers.
