Wings of An Angel – Bette and Tina – Chapter 10

To deter Tinas thoughts of victory, Death opened his camouflage to reveal the numerous souls held prisoner behind the ribbed caged cell.  I still have room for one more soul.  I so do love a womans company.  Tina closed her ears to the sound of his haunting laugh, but the echo of his coldness kept drumming its way deep within her vibrating cords; a sound wave of horrendous noise that threatened to render her speech partially impaired for speaking the truth.  Tina shielded her eyes from the sight, but the mental picture within her head wouldnt let the distraught image fade away; an image of scared faces connected to disfigured bodies screaming for their souls to be released from the dungeon of their eternal awaken slumber.  Tina thought to herself, How much punishment can one endure to survive the price of freedom.  She loves you just as much.  I will leave it up to her as to whether she dies or not.  Let the best person win.  With those words, Death was gone leaving Tina with the question of, Will he be back?

Unable to take the silence anymore, Tina swiftly stood.  What is taking so long?  Its been four fucking hours!  Tina vocalized permitting her red, teary, massacre smeared eyes to gaze upon the circular clock resting quietly against the white sanitized north side wall.  This is not happening; just a bad dream that I need to wake up from.  Tina paced the floor from one side of the room to the next as she hugged her body with her weary arms; arms that had previously held the most precious assets of her fortune hours before tragedy carelessly presented its self.  Alice, Dana, Shane and Kit watched in agony as they sat in the cryptic chairs of the waiting room witnessing the self assured Tina Kennard finally break from the exhaustion of not comprehending what was happening behind those white restricted access doors that only hospital staff members were allowed to rush through.  Tina, are you sure you dont want to go home and change; get some rest?  You have been up all night, Alice stated in a concerned whisper.  Tina paused mid way through her pacing, turned her heated gaze towards Alice and replied with a scratchy voice, Im not leaving this hospital until I know what Bettes condition is.  To ensure that her statement was taken seriously by everyone she reiterated with more force, I am not leaving.  Silence of peace settled in the closed compact space for you could hear the tick tock of the second hand enclosed in the plastic clock.

    1. I actually have to agree with slipperynipple. I like this story and love how you don’t just rush through things (unlike IC & Co. since they only have a maximum of 60 minutes a week to play with), but I actually had to keep stopping while reading this so I wouldn’t wear myself out. Introducing the supernatural was a good idea seeing as it would take a miracle for someone to come out of an incident like that alive.

    2. I found your story today and spent my afternoon reading it. This is intriguing me. The thing I am most curious about is the little boy, something is weird with that situation. I am wondering if this is going to be an adventure like the movie “What dreams may come.” Will we find the little boy helping Tina face the Angel of Death? This story is also reminding me of Stephen king’s book “Rose Madder.” Although I really enjoy this story and your writing is great I would have to agree with slipperynipple about the length in certain parts. It can take away from the story. other than that I am enjoying it, please continue!

    3. Cool! I seem to be drifting into the dark side of the world lately. The fight between Tina and the Dark Lord was intriguing. The Angel of Life just seemed to stand their and let Tina fight for Bette. The only time that you saw it or it was mentioned was when they were running down the hall and that Angel was running beside Bette. It will take all that Tina can give to Bette to keep her alive. Please post soon.

    4. Good to see you back Leo and this is good chapter. When Tina talk to the Angel of Death is scary, ok glad Bette ok now and hope she will wake up soon. OK post soon please, thanks!

    5. Leo, god damn – you have been gone so long and then you give us the chapter from hell :o)……holy christ this was intense leo – absolutely amazing. Pleas do continue – We so want more, but please not so much drama on the next one eventhought we love it :o) Post soon

    6. Well, so you disappear and then out of nowhere….BANG, after that chapter you once again have our attention…pls don’t ever go away that long again….I will assume that you are busy writing the next, and the next, and the next chapters….as you owe us big time….almost forgot….THANKYOU

    7. Ya know this will be the first time I will write this. The story is good but this was too much. I think I skipped to the ending. The middle took to long and took me along a path I was not very interested in. But believe me this does not mean that the story did not have the desired affect but sometimes less is more. Could of done without some of the death part and the construction site part. Thanks for the story

    8. Three months and thirteen days……..three months and thirteen days is how long you had a woman waiting…(its this how you threat your women)…….LE0, three months and thirteen days………..BUT it was worth the wait………….This chapter by far is your best……The struggle that Tina is going through to keep Bette where she belongs is heart felt…………The fight that she has with the Angel of Death clearly shows how in love she is with Bette and how far she will go to keep her…………..Now PLEASE let Tina win this fight so we can find out the mystery about Bette and Kit………..WE want a happy ending………Now I’ll only waiting THREE HOURS AND THIRTEEN MINUTES this time…………Please continue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    9. Leo, welcome back although it’s been WAY TOO LONG. What an ambitious and complex chapter, thank you! If you ever feel another writer’s block coming on consider writing a simpler 1 or 2 pager to keep the creative juices flowing and keep in touch with your readers.
