Woman of My Dreams
A slow smile graced Bette’s face. “You really like me in this outfit?”
“Yes babe you look wonderful in this outfit.”
Once Bette was ready, Tina drove them to the Planet. Tonight Kit was going to be singing along with Betty. It promised to be a great evening just the thing to get Bette’s mind off the impending due date.
The girls had saved a table up front. They relaxed and talked. Bette was having a great time. The lights went down and Kit came to the stage to the roar of applause. “Thank you! Thank you! Wow you guys are too much. I would like to start this set with a special number for two special ladies. Some of you may know my sister and her wife. Last year, my sister was in an accident overseas and suffered from amnesia for several months. During this time she began to paint and the woman she painted was her lovely wife. She didn’t know who she was or who the lovely lady she was painting was. All she knew was this woman filled her dreams. We have all been amazed at how clearly Bette painted Tina in these pictures. This is a testament of their undying love. So Bette and Tina, I want to dedicate this song to you both.”
The band began to play the familiar tune as Tina looked at Bette with eyes full of love. She extended her hand and said “dance with me babe.” Bette just took her hand and led her to the dance floor as Kit began to sing Unforgettable. They swayed to the music as the audience watched in awe. They were unaware of anything other than the beating of their own hearts. Those watching were heard to say “they were meant to be together.” When the song ended, they turned to Kit and blew her a kiss in thanks.
As they headed back to their table Bette excused herself and headed to the restroom. Several minutes later, Jesse came running over to the table to get Tina because Bette needed her. Tina rushed to the back and found Bette standing in a puddle of water. She looked up at Tina with a silly grin on her face. “T I think it is time to go to the hospital. I think my water just broke.” About that time the first real contraction hit and Bette almost dropped to her knees. Tina was at her side in a heartbeat with her arms around her.
“Breathe babe. Everything is going to be ok.” The restroom door flew open as Alice, Kit and Shane barged in. “It’s time. I have to get her to the hospital. Kit you call Dr. Wilson and tell her we are on the way. Shane you go to the house and get our bag. Forgive the mess in the bedroom someone had nothing to wear.” Bette had a sheepish look on her face.
Alice piped up “what can I do?”
“Alice you call everyone and go get Angie and meet us at the hospital. She is staying over at Melissa’s house tonight.” Tina was like a drill sergeant barking out orders. But in military precision she got Bette to the hospital in record time.
Nine hours later, Danielle Elizabeth Kennard-Porter was born. She weighed in at 8lbs and 3ozs. She was 21 inches long. She had beautiful curly blonde hair and hazel eyes that would melt your heart. They had both decided to name this daughter after their dear friend Dana. They both missed her so much but this was a way of always remembering that beautiful spirit.
Angie was so taken by her little sister. She sat next to her Momma B and held Lizzy. Angie had decide that was going to be her nickname and the others couldn’t change her mind. After everyone left, Tina looked at Bette and smiled “how did you paint her even before she was conceived? She is just beautiful Bette. Thank you for making our dreams come true.”
Bette simple looked at Tina and smiled “she came to me in a dream along with the woman of my dreams.” They could never explain how Bette had managed to capture Danielle in that first portrait but it was uncanny how much it resembled her. Bette and Tina knew it was just their special connection. They were soul mates and that was all there was to it.

Absolute BRILLIANCE. Hate to see this one end but thanks so much for sharing such a lovely story with us. Yes, it was pure poetic justice that jodi met her demise in that way. Just perfect for her. Please come back to us, maybe with a SEQUEL. Thanks again.
