Worth Holding On Too Chapter 70

    “Spot on” Jace smiled

“You have made something of yourself and overcome so much over the past year, you have dedicated your life to protecting and looking after my daughter and never gave up and we are so grateful and proud of you for that. So I’m going to shut up now and without further delay please raise your glasses to our daughter and adopted daughter Jess and Carmen”

“JESS AND CARMEN!” Everyone shouted raising their glasses.

Carmen stood up and took a deep breath taking the mic from Bette.

“So Jess can tell you that – the only nerves and anxiety I’ve had about the wedding has been about giving this speech. I absolutely hate public speaking. Me and public speaking were just not compatible. We don’t go together very well at all. I think mainly because I don’t have any idea how to write a good speech. But to everyone’s surprise including my wife’s I do know how to write a great song. So I hope this isn’t cheating my way out of it too much.” Carmen smirked

“Recently, I’ve been having a wedding. I’ve married this girl who’s out of this world, believe me. And we are so grateful to so many people. But we’re saying thank you to only a few, I’m sorry.

So if I don’t thank you, it means that I probably just forgot you. But obviously, that doesn’t mean that we are not grateful, it’s just I’m forgetful.

And so I’m sorry, if your name’s not in this song. Oh, no. Here we go. Hope, I don’t get this wrong.” Carmen crossed her fingers and held them up for everyone to see.

Everyone cheered and clapped, Carmen signalled for them to quiet down.

“Hey! I’m saying thanks to our ushers, my lovely music teacher, there’s so much that I could say. But I haven’t got all day. So Armani thanks for making the suits that all the guys are wearing, they are looking fine. And that is why, I wrote this song to say, Thank you! Thank you for being our ushers. Thank you! Andrew, you’re awesome, the coolest guy. Thank you! Thank you for being our ushers. Guys, I’m going to tell you, you couldn’t be better ushers unless you are ‘Usher’”
