    Author Notes:

    Computer talk, dreams, kids, jewelry, and Drs. Fairbanks and McCutcheon try to solve Patient Pieszecki’s dilemma. (AlShaDane, because I needed some). *Please see the note at the end, too, if you have time. It’d mean a lot.*

    “Manners, Shay!” Shane admonished him gently, but he just wandered into the living room, sitting at the desk and biting into the omelet before she could really do anything. “Sorry, Dane. I guess he’s an omelet fan. I didn’t know.”

    “Well, he probably only eats cereal at your house. You’re not exactly the world’s best cook…no offense or anything. And I figured I should use up what little food we had left, anyway.”

    “Yeah, might be a good idea. Look, I have no idea what you guys need, and you know how weird Alice is at the grocery store. Would you mind jotting some things down for me?” Shane asked, taking her omelet. “This is really good.”

    “Like I said, we don’t have much left. It’s just cheese,” Dana shrugged, but she got a legal pad and a pen and started writing things down as they moved to the couch, where Dana turned on Saturday morning cartoons for Shay. “Sorry Al’s being so slow today. She had another dream last night…I wasn’t here when she woke up, and we sort of had a hard time when I got back.”

    “That’s really horrible, Dana. I’m sorry.”

    “Yeah, so am I. I suggested that maybe we try to find a sleeping pill that’ll make her stop dreaming, for a few nights at least,” Dana confessed.

    “That might help. If she gets some time between them it might make it easier to know the difference between the dream and what’s real.” Shane stopped for a second. “You know, I still have a stash at the house. I got it when we got back from Canada, but I haven’t felt like smoking it since Shay’s been here.”

    “That’s probably good,” Dana replied before it sank in. “Wait, why are you telling me this? I’m not gonna smoke it.”

    “Not you, you idiot. Alice.”

    “Oh,” Dana said without thinking. “Hold on. I don’t get it. Why would you give it to Alice? She’s having enough problems thinking her dreams are real. I don’t think her smoking up is going to help.”

    “You’re dumb sometimes, Dana. I mean, I love you, but seriously. Think about it. It makes you sleepy, right? So it might help her stop having dreams for awhile.”

    1. Yay, I do believe I’m first! I totally always thought Erin Daniels had a Sheryl Crow-esque look to her, but I thought I was the only one. I loved this update, it was really adorable and so well written. And yeah, I shuddered at the thought of them listening to Mariah Carey.

    3. Alice’s lack of sense of reality is a bit unsettling, but understandable. But getting AlShaDane back together is way cool. Dana eating the rest of the pizza was funny after she told Alice not to buy all garbage at the grocery store, haha. The Ari storyline is growing on me, as it shows Dana’s strength and compassion. Yet I don’t get the backlash against Mariah. I for one felt that for once Dana should get the entertainment of her choice. Circles, twas a nice touch!

    4. Alright, I’m a lurker and never posted because frankly I have too many website accounts and will lose track.But after reading the note at the bottom of this chapter I was forced to sign up just to beg you to somehow continue it.I check for updates pretty much every second day, which sounds creepy but it just shows how much I love this story. I refuse to watch L word after our beloved little ms fairbanks was taken from us and aside from watching season 1 and 2 over and over again this gives me something to actually look foward to. This is the only way danish love continues for me, and to have it taken away again would be toooo tragic. So if you need to end it, do so. But I’m praying you keep going because I don’t know where else to turn to for danish satisfaction.

    5. I love your writing and really enjoy this story. There has never been a bad chapter (I should know — when you posted the latest, I went back and re-read the whole thing). I hope you continue.
