    Young hearts be free tonight.

    Paula watched as she crumbled the lit stick in the palm of her hand, letting the ashes fall to the grass. “Where do you normally spend the holidays?” She asked conversationally getting Ashley’s attention. “It’s almost Christmas and your father’s sick. I would assume you’d be there with him.”

    A puzzled look crossed Ashley’s face. “How do you know about Pops?” She asked quietly.

    “It’s all over the news that he’s sick.” She replied and then realized her lack of manners. “I’m sorry your father’s sick Ashley. It must be terrible for you.”

    “Not really.” The answer automatically passed her lips before she could stop it. The confusion on Paula’s face was easily noticeable. Ashley was torn between explaining the truth and keeping her great image with her father. Fuck him, she thought bitterly. “To be completely honest Ms. Paula. I hate my father.” The confusion on her face immediately turned to horror/shock. How terrible the words must sound coming from a 17 year old girl about her own Dad! “He’s a selfish bastard and I’m glad he’s dying.”

    Her voice trembled. Paula wondered if it was from the cold air or the emotions running through her body. Either way- the blonde knew Ashley was finished with the subject. She could tell by the look in her eyes that she was shook up enough by it. “Why don’t we go inside and you can help me out around the kitchen.”

    Now it Ashley’s turn to be surprised. She thought Paula would send her packing for the hate filled comment. Who would want someone so fucked up in their home? The rock star didn’t understand but didn’t question it any further. It was giving her a head ache. “Sounds fun.” She answered and then followed the older blonde inside.

    Gray eyes were open and newly awake as Spencer reached out for her girlfriend. Nothing. She swallowed down her disappointment and turned her head, thinking Ashley might be in the bathroom. Nothing. She sat up and yawned while her hand raked through her blonde hair. “Oh where could my little lover be?” She asked herself getting off the bed. She stretched thoroughly and then straightened up. She debated on changing her clothes or not. She wore a simple tank top with short cotton shorts. Perfect sleeping attire, Spencer had slept like a baby. “Oh.” She murmured as soon as she opened the bedroom door. The smell of freshly cooked food filled her senses. She hadn’t smelled anything so good in forever. Her feet quickly moved up the stairs and she found herself at the kitchen in record time, not believing her eyes as she stood at the door way.

    2. Wow! How I have truly missed this. Such an amazing update. I can’t say enough. Love this part of their journey together. I’m glad that Ashley is getting to see that she can be a great person without the drugs. Can’t wait for more. Great writing. Very inspiring.

    5. ashley’s getting along with spencer’s family even if paula and arthur get suspicious every once in a while. i’m glad spence had ashley talk to denny maybe he won’t do any more pot and the scene where he’d said i really think she’d let you do her was hilarous my favorite scene. ash really needs to call brenda and talk to kyla not just text pms

    6. i was late to school cause i started reading at 6:00 am and stilll havnt touched my homework. but luckly getting home to read this motivated me to finish my 5 mile run for track faster

    11. This is such a sweet chapter, thanks for making so long. lol, i love the long chapters. I’m really glad Ashley is deciding to change. These two are so amazing. There’s just a ton of things I’m liking about the story. I love how Paula and Arthur actually like Ashley in this fic. Go figure. Anyway I can’t wait for the next update, i’ll be patient but it won’t be easy. XD

    12. First the smoke blowing: You are an amazing author! I wish you could just knock these posts out every week but I know good things take time and so alas I must wait, thank you though for sharing your talent.Ok, soo interesting, I get the impression that Paula is either A)passive aggressive or B) just really cool with the fact that Ashley and Spencer are seemingly together… Arthur on the other hand seems a little less like he’d be into their relationship…Time will tell I suppose.I love Denny! He’s like a male Ashley…a little more immature but I like him!Also, interesting form of therapy for Ashley…meeting a well adjusted family seems to have helped put a few things into perspective for her. Maybe she needs to stay out of LA, environment is apparently everything…or maybe what Ashley needs to do is turn her actually family into a better one. Hopefully she reconnects with Kyla and her mother, they seem to hold a meaningful soft spot in her heart.PMS PMS PMS

    13. I cannot even tell you how much I loved this update. I took time to read it (3 or 4 days) because I knew it’s gonna take a while for the next update to be posted, so I wanted to savor reading it. I love what you created between Ashley and Spencer…it’s almost something magical. Everytime I read this story I forget everything around me, no lie. (The prologue still worries me, though). I hope Ashley will manage to stay away from the drugs..she’s much better of without them. It probably is gonna take a while, but I hope you’ll update soon-ish. I’m addicted to this story. :P I really am.

    14. I swear i can never get enough of this story… im waiting for something bad to happen though, things are a little too perfect for the girls… o and i cant wait for Spence and Denny to come out to each other
