    But there’s no blame for how our love did slowly fade. And now that it’s gone, it’s like it wasn’t there at all. And here I rest, where disappointment and regret collide, lying awake at night.

    “Not if I’m around you can’t! How am I supposed to protect you if I don’t know where you are!” He began his usual act of pacing around, his body rigid. He was exhausted from the constant battles with his sibling, and it was obvious both of their patience was dwindling.

    “You don’t have to protect me! I can take care of myself! I can be out on my own if I damn well please.” She was still hovering by the door, her hand near the handle incase she so felt the need to take flight. If Glen didn’t tone it down soon, he was going to regret it.

    “No you can’t!” He objected, squaring off with her as he ran his hands through his thick hair. He was trying to be the best brother he knew how, problem was that he was going about it in all the wrong ways.

    “Watch me.” With that she turned and slammed the door shut behind her, descending the stairs rapidly. Surprisingly Ashley was still parked on the curb and watched with some astonishment as Spencer climbed into the passenger side looking flushed and riled. “Drive please.” She spoke tensely, and Ashley looked out the window to see the blonde boy following after her. She didn’t need to be told twice and pulled away from the curb, gunning it out into the street.

    “Can I ask what happened?” She inquired carefully, heading towards her home because she didn’t know where else to go.

    “He is just so over protective.” Spencer fumed, voice low as she glared out the window, “I mean, ever since I tried to…” She let the statement drop, glancing over at Ashley, whose eyes had momentarily dropped to the girls wrists.

    “I’m sure he is just concerned.” She tried to soothe in a comforting tone, uncertain of what to say. She still had a hard time believing the girl beside her could be pushed to that severe of a degree. It was one of those things that made her realize how much Spencer had trusted Sarah. It made her want to hate her former lover.

    “I know. He overdoes it though… I feel so smothered in that house.” She rubbed her face, groaning audibly as she realized how much she was imposing on Ashley.

    1. Somehow I missed the last chapter… But now that I’m all caught up I must say this one is really starting to heat up. The whole pretending to be lovers thing and kissing to ‘show’ the other couple what a kiss was… And now this! I’m really hoping Spencer just… goes with it. Even though she’s still dealing with Sarah’s death which is completely understandable. And how awkward must it be for Ashley to be in Spencer’s home knowing the things that happened there? Your writing is great, keep it up, and pms!

    2. this story plays with your heart, i feel for Glen cuz he had to walk in on his sister slowly dieing and now just wants to protect her only he doesn’t realize he’s smothering her which could lead to the same scene again and the whole Ashley/Spencer relationship and how it is developing is one of the best i’ve read…pms

You have created a unique and compelling story that stretches the imagination beyond what most people are comfortable with. The story begins with a tragic death of a lover, then quickly reveals the shocking truth of unfaithfulness, and if that weren’t enough the brokenhearted and devastated lover that had been left behind is slowly and painstakingly falling for the woman that quite literally stole her dead lover’s heart. That is one of the most interesting and intriguing plots I have read in a long time. Brilliant! PMS
