Los Angeles Breeds Forbidden Love – (Chapter: Two- Right As Rain)
“….Spencer, please don’t do this…..” He whispered, taking her face in his hands. Her skin was eerily cold, although he could still feel the soft pulse of her heart against his fingertips, “Please don’t do this.” He was completely lost, his own heart hammering in his chest as once again he felt the contents of his stomach rising into his throat. He swallowed the burning lump back down, and was quickly jolted out of his state of shock when he heard the sirens. Jumping to his feet he practically fell down the stairs as he raced to the door, unlocking it and yanking it open just as a team of paramedics ran toward him. Directing them up the stairs, Glen moved out of their way, feeling utterly helpless and vulnerable.
The paramedics moved quicker than Glen would have thought possible, and in what seemed like both seconds and hours they had his sister loaded up on a stretcher and were carting her down the stairs. They had since covered her in a white sheet and placed tourniquets on both of her wrists. Glen argued his way with them into the back of the ambulance, and soon they were on the road, swerving around traffic and running lights all the way to the hospital.
Glen hardly noticed anything that was going on around him. Instead his eyes were glued to Spencer, watching as they performed numerous procedures with machine like consistency. Tubes were connected, oxygen was pumped, complicated instruments were relaying information, and Glen just sat there, feeling like he should be doing something to help her but not knowing what. It was the worst feeling in the world. So, he settled on just trying to stay out of their way as much as possible as he studied her facial features, praying she’d blink or flinch or do something to let him know she was still in there.
They arrived at the hospital, and once again there was a flurry of activity. Glen was ushered into another waiting room, where he was sternly directed to fill out several different forms. Boy, they sure were a friendly bunch. Taking a seat in one of the chairs, he stared at the papers, commanding his eyes to focus. But, all he could see was Spencer, and the peaceful look cemented to her face as he forehead rested on the tile. Her skin had stood out so stark and pale against the red hue of the water.
