    Lusting Your Blood: Edward

“Stop being so… indifferent. I know that deep down you want to know, so just stop fighting with me,” her high-pitched voice said to me – if I didn’t know better – in a hurtful undertone.

I sighed and entered her mind. I soon saw the picture of myself in a park back in Forks: that must be where I’ll end up today while hunting. Soon I saw a girl – a complete stranger to me, I hadn’t even seen her before. She was beautiful in some way; her appearance was quite plain but there was something about her. Is she my meal? In about then Alice’s vision came to an end.

“So what do you think?” Alice was excited for some reason. Why, I did not know. She didn’t even show me something very interesting, just a girl.

“What do I think of what? It was only a stranger with the worst luck in the world since I’m going to suck her dry when we meet. Was your real thought behind it to make me wait until I meet this girl? So that it would be easier for me?” I asked amusedly.

I didn’t have any problem with that, never had. Human blood makes me feel human as well and it doesn’t matter much to me whether I know the person or not. Especially because back in Forks nobody likes us, they only think they like us. Inside they know that something was off, call it a gut feeling if you will, but they want to be as far away from us as possible. When we come closer it only makes them nervous; many of them think it’s a silly thing called love. Like something like that even exists. I know that I may come off as a hypocrite because I live in a family where everybody has a mate and think that they have found this great feeling. I’d say it’s rubbish and a simple thing called physical attraction.

Then again, what do I know? I’ve never felt anything like that butterflies-in-the-stomach feeling in my mortal life or in my immortal life. Probably never will.

Alice made a scorned expression at my questions. “I know that you don’t care about who you kill. I’ve been the only one to know it. The others, especially Carlisle thought you had problems with it but I know you enjoy it. Stalking your prey, making them scared and cornering them is fun to you. You also like to stare straight in the eyes before you sink your teeth into their flesh. Of course, then the victim gets over by whatever power you had over them and starts fighting back but you have found a solution to that as well – whether you make them think that they are paralyzed or do something else to their mind is irreverent – but you enjoy taking lives. You were born to be a vampire.”
