Lusting Your Blood: Edward
“M-my name…? My name is… Bella. Isabella actually but everybody calls me Bella. You can too. Really, I’m pretty sure that if you do say Isabella I might even not react.” She said this all in a rush, probably tried to hide how scared she really was.
I stopped a few meters away from her because I then smelled this glorious thing in the air, I’d say it even was a perfume. It was the scent of her blood. I have never smelt anything sweeter in my whole 108 years.
“Bella…” I felt the pain in the back of my throat but it wasn’t that hurtful as I had expected. It was actually… thrilling. I wanted her blood so badly but just inhaling the scent of it was almost enough as well. Not enough to ease the hunger and if I did feed on her now I would have this delightful food for only this once and never again after this.
‘Edward, there could be a way…’ the tiny voice in my head told me. Oh, but of course… There is a way… ‘This strange girl doesn’t even know how lucky she is,’ I mused in my head and almost laughed out loud because of my diabolical plan.
“Yeah. Nice to meet you…” she said with a faraway look in her eyes but all of a sudden I felt her slip.
“What did you say your name was again?” she asked.
“I didn’t tell you my name,” I replied simply. Wasn’t going to, either.
“Oh. Well… Do you have a name?” She’s a nosy one and strong, as well. I had never met a person capable of resisting vampire’s charms and here she was – only met me a moment ago and now she was fighting back. Nevertheless, it didn’t mean that I couldn’t play with my food.
“Yes.” This pissed her off, to put it mildly. A clear sign she had completely broken free from my clutches.
“And it is…?” she questioned with crossed arms and raised eyebrow. Feisty one, isn’t she?
I pondered whether or not I should tell her. She didn’t need to know. ‘She will find out in school.’ True, true… How can it hurt then?
I said my name in a quiet way, “Edward.” For some reason I came across a saying ‘The hunter became the hunted’. Wasn’t this the situation I was in now?
Now I wanted to get as far away from this girl as possible, to loosen her grip. I also wanted to toy with her. So, I ran past her as quickly as I could. The air caused by this made her raise her hands for protection. I ran and ran but still heard her call out for me. I almost turned around and went back but still managed to put my foot down.
Unfortunately, because of this I got distracted and ran a person down. When I realized what had happened I raised my head to see who it was. The woman was a stranger and unconscious from the impact. Everything was fine with her, though; her heart rate was beating in the usual rhythm. She had only scratched herself.
She had scratched herself…
The smell of fresh hot blood coming from her open cut invaded my nostrils. This time I didn’t hold myself back. I drew out my fangs and enjoyed the feeling of them and her skin coming into contact. The blood started to flow into my mouth at a quick pace and I swallowed it eagerly.
After I was done I pushed her off and stood up. Wasn’t one of my best meals, maybe because it wasn’t much of a hunt or maybe because I had gotten a whiff of something better only a second before I met this one. Nevertheless, the hunger was now satisfied.
My mind wondered off to Bella. How was she able to block me? How was she able to break into my mind? The girl held much interest for me because I wanted to find an answer to both of those questions and because there was something else about her. Something I couldn’t pinpoint. Alice had said this could change me but in what direction?
I sighed in frustration and crouched down to pick up the body. Damn, her eyes were open; she must’ve woken up in the middle of my drinking process. I closed her eyes in disgust and heaved the body on my shoulder.
While I ran towards the burial place, I couldn’t help but to think about the strange girl with sweet blood and mystical brown eyes.
