We sat there…kissing and I can honestly say it didn’t last long enough. I thought about everything, from the first time Spencer and I started dating to when we broke up and I got together with Brooke to this moment now. I remembered when it came between having to choose Spencer or my other girlfriend in high school, and then when I asked her to prom when we won states for softball…Spencer and I both pulled away at the same time, but we stayed close and I held her hand in one of mine

“I’m sorry” I told her

“don’t be Ashley…” she said smiling then she kissed me again

“no I messed up…” I said “…I know you think I’m still in love with Brooke, but this is how I was when you left…and it took so long to get over you, and I don’t think it ever got easier…and when you came back, I just wanted to be with you again, but I was so afraid you’d leave” I admitted

“well can I tell you something?” she asked me and I nodded “I’m not going anywhere…” she said “…I just missed being home, and I missed being with you” she told me kissing me again

“I missed kissing you…” I told her “…with no strings attached”

“me too” she said smiling then she looked around and put a single record on the shelf “all done” she said and I laughed a little then we stood up

“so…can I take you out now?” I asked her holding out my hand and she took it with hers

“defiantly” she said grabbing her purse as we walked out then she locked the doors and we left then I took her to the beach “you would take me here”

“I love it here” I told her then I sat in the sand

“it’s cold tonight…” she said sitting down right next to me and I shook my head laughing to myself then I put my arm around her holding her close to me

“better?” I asked her

“yeah” she replied kissing my neck and I leaned into it

“you know…a year ago if someone told me we’d be together right now I’d laugh and not believe it for a second”
