Project New Girl – (Chapter: An audience with Julian)

Just as I was about to curse myself, and them, to oblivion, Carrie suddenly looked up at me and told me I could go in and see Julian. I was livid, wanting to remain in my seat outside the office so I could keep an eye on what was transpiring between her and Spencer, but I figured that my job was perhaps slightly more important.
Like a puppy with its tail between its legs, I put on my best pout and carefully entered Julian’s lair. It was lavish, expensive and totally over the top – it had ‘Julian’ written all over it. His office also had the best views of the city, and I tried not to focus all my attention out of the window as he waved me over to his desk, his eyes not-so-subtly surveying me just as I had been ‘surveying’ Carrie only moments before. I cringed.
“Sit down, Ashley,” he said coolly. I silently did as he requested and waited for him to begin the torture.
“Do you know why I’ve asked you here today?” he asked; the clichéd question that gave me the chance to admit all my misdemeanors, and then hastily apologise for them, before he confronted me with all he knew. I decided to play the innocent card, though, and deny all knowledge of why my presence in his office was so imperative.
“No,” I said convincingly.
“Well that makes two of us,” he said, taking me completely by surprise and leaving me speechless. I realized I wasn’t expected to respond, however, when he produced a remote control from his desk and aimed it at a projector hanging above me from the ceiling. At the click of a button, a blank screen on the other side of his office came to life, quickly displaying an elaborate graph that looked more like a piece of art than anything Excel would normally construct. He obviously uses a mac to create his presentations. “The board of directors took great delight in giving me a bollocking over this in our briefing this morning.”
I was confused.
“What is it?” I asked, noting the lack of labeling on all axis. That would have caused him to fail his IT classes, I mused… God, I really need to learn to stay focused!

So I came over to this site, just thinking I was going to comment, and I ended up reading this chapter over again. For some reason, I always end up reading your posts more than once. I think that’s the sign of a great piece of writing: when every time you read it, you get a little something more out of it.great update, as always. i think these next few chapters are going to be very telling.post again soon! (i’m needy, i know)
ohmg. i love you. ew that pig julian, but hes a character i would love, ha cuz i love the unexpected. haha anti carrie, but you have to do what you have to do. spencers as big as a jerk as she was, deserves more than a PA. and Ashley..needs to knock this pitch outta the water and either realize shes loves spencer, or get over her already. haha god i love you, and i want more now. make my new year a good one ;]
Ashley and Spencer are so going to realize they still love each other while working on this project. Great update, PMS!
aww you mentioned me! i feel so very special now!! thanks bannerman, you’ve certainly brightened up my new years. now as for this story. i LOVE it! and maybe working with spencer will get ash and her back together. cuz we all know how effing aamzing that would be! haha um yeah, basically i hate what julian did. because thats what ALL bosses do! confuse the fuck out of you then suck up to you to do something for them, and since you’re so confused you’re like ok sure why not haha. very nicely done!! i love your writing style. just enough details so you get the full effect of whats going on and not enough to bore the reader.
Yeah MAN! Nice post. I’m loving it and I hope that Ashley seriously gets ALL of her priorities straight. She needs to realize that Spencer is what she needs in her life and that Carrie needs to be smushed like a bug beneath her shoe! Haha. I love this. Update soon, would ya? Love you Man!

Man, oh man Josh, I’d love to write something witty and thoughtful and well structured in reply to this, but just to let you know I enjoyed it and I love ya. wow ash really need to be mature and professional for a month and a half with spencer to get the huge project! that’s gonna be interesting seeing ash behave and all. i know she has the right to do what she’s doing now but shouldnt she get a straight answer from spencer on what really happen first? and two of them working together late at night… sparks will surely fly and emotions all stirred up. hmm so cant wait for that!!
