Taking the Long Way – (Chapter: 11: Fate)

The fate Gods were working overtime to make sure that Ashley and I kept running into each other.  I knew eventually I was going to run out of chances so I had to make the most of it.

“This is crazy!” I said breaking the stunned silence. “It looks like we all have a major story to tell so let’s head back to the booth and discuss how small of a world it is becoming.”  Ashley and Aiden nodded.

As we got back to the booth Kaylen looked up.  Her jaw dropped.

    “Ashley?” She said.

    “Kaylen?” Ashley replied.

“You two know each other too?!” Aiden said glancing between Ashley and Kaylen.

"Ok great we all know each others names so let’s figure out how we all actually KNOW each other.”  I said.  Everyone laughed.

We all wanted to talk at once, so Aiden brought out a coin.  Heads means Spencer shares how she knows Ashley and tails means I share how I know Spencer and Kaylen he said.

Heads won.  I really wasn’t looking forward to telling the story again, but it gave me the chance to let Ashley hear my point of view as well.  I didn’t leave out any details for Aiden, I let him have the full un-edited story. My story ended up being the best to tell because it tied us all together.  From Kaylen, Aiden and I at the party on Friday to Ashley, Kaylen and I for a drama filled Saturday. We were all in hysterics by the time I finished.   I was glad my embarrassment could provide humor at least.

Between gasps of air Ashley turned to Kaylen and asked,“So why did you ask Spencer “Is this the girl” when I first met you?”.

Oh shit!! The dream.  I glanced quickly at Kaylen letting my eyes beg her not to mention the dream.  I really didn’t want to freak Ashley out now that I had actually started talking with her.

Kaylen recovered effortlessly.  “Oh yeah.  Spencer had mentioned previously that she worked for Raife Davies’ mother and that he had a daughter too.  I am a big fan of your dad’s music.  So when you introduced your self I was a little star struck and just was asking Spencer if you were actually his daughter.”
