    I just wanted everything to go back to the way it was before, but before what?

     

    “Whoa, ‘Shley! Hey I thought you were ok with this whole talk it out thing?” Aiden said coming up to give me a hug.

     

    “I was…I  AM” I said wiping tears away. “I think it is important that everyone work things out and I thought I was handling it pretty good.  Then I just kind of let my mind go crazy on the drive over here.  I mean look at Kaylen.” I motioned to the girl who had moved to Aiden’s side with a concerned look on her face “She is gorgeous, smart, funny and her mirror image who has known Spencer twice as long as I have is back in her life.  I just don’t know if I can compete with that.”  I finished feeling new tears well up at the finality my words seemed to carry.

     

    “Don’t do this Ashley!” Kaylen blurted quickly putting her hand on my shoulder.  I looked up at her wondering if she was reading my thoughts. “You love Spencer and she loves you.  Don’t give up on her just because things are a little tough.”

     

    “So you are saying there is no chance that your sister isn’t going to make Spence want her back?” I said coldly.  Kaylen hesitated.  She knew something that was important.

     

    “No, Ashley, I can’t guarantee that.” She said softly. “That is something that only Jena and Spencer know.”

     

    Her quite and honest answer actually calmed me.  She was right.  It was a decision that was out of everyone’s hands except Spencer. I took a deep breath and felt my Davies confidence returning.  True, I could end up the loser in this game but I wasn’t going to give up.  Spencer was meant to be mine.  I wouldn’t be the crazy girlfriend.  I would be the understanding and loving girlfriend.  I smirked to myself….welcome back Ashley-Freakin’-Davies!

     

    “You okay Ash?” Kaylen asked.

     

    “Yeah, I am.  Thank you for being honest Kaylen.  I don’t mean to offend, I know you love your sister, but she has another thing coming if she thinks I am just going to give up and go back to LA.” I said.

     

    Kaylen smiled at me. “Selfishly I have always kept hope that Spencer and Jena would end up together….but that is so not the way is should be.  You are the only person that deserves Spencer.  I am wickedly happy for my best friend who has found someone so amazing.”
