‘I’ll take a latte with skim.’=She peers over at Bette.

‘What now?’=She asked sipping from her cup.

(Alice)

‘You lied to me.’

(Bette)

‘I know, I know. But if I told you the truth about seeing Jodi, you would’ve found some way to cot block, Al. I know you.’

(Alice)

‘Going deep for Angie?’

(Bette)

‘Because you were being noisy. Alice, I’m older than you, ok. I was drawing circles while you’re mother was pregnant with you.’

(Alice)

‘What was she here for?’=Bette’s eyes widen because she can’t believe she’s questioning her.

(Bette)

‘The last time I remembered California was an open state. You don’t own it nor declare who have rights in it.’

(Alice)

‘Don’t beat around the bush.’

(Bette)

‘She came to drop off some work at the university. She called me that morning and surprised me with the news. So I asked her out for lunch and she accepted the invitation.’

(Alice)

‘Like that?’=Bette rolls her eyes.

(Bette)

‘It was just that one time. She’s very busy in New York.’

(Alice)

‘Good. Lets keep it that way.’

Tina’s house-That night

(Alice)

‘You should come T, you won’t regret it!’

(Tina)

‘I can’t. I must go with Jenny to the premiere of ‘Lez Girls’.’

(Alice)

‘They actually made that into a movie?’=Tina nods her head.

(Tina)

‘Who’s throwing the party anyway?’

(Alice)

‘Phyllis. She’s Bette’s boss. And they have this huge house up in the hills, I think. Plus Helena is catering the party again.

(Tina)

‘Cool. But, I wasn’t invited.’

(Alice)

‘Of course you were. I received my invitation yesterday. I wonder why you didn’t receive one.’

(Tina)

‘Because I wasn’t invited. Who’s going to be there?’

(Alice)

‘Everyone but you. But here’s the catch, we can bring a guest.’=Tina smiles at the thought.

(Tina)

‘That sounds like a plan. But, I must accompany, Jenny. It’s important that I be there.’

(Alice)

‘How important?’=She had a plan rising in her head.

(Tina)

‘Important if I want to keep my job.’

(Alice)

‘Ouch! That sucks.’

(Tina)

‘And what’s worse is I’m traveling with Jenny.’=Her face flush from frustration.

(Alice)

‘Well, if the trip is canceled…’=She reaches in her pocket and pulls out her invitation… ‘The party will be at that address.’=She points to it.
