American Werewolves in London: Snogging Beneath the Moon
“You’re so horribly backward!” Tina had hissed at him on the phone, angrily. “This one is special! She has good ideas, a good heart…”
“A heart you wish to stop.” Devon had replied. “And in the end, will she thank you for it? She will not be one of us, nor will she be one of them…”
“them…” Tina said sadly. “You claim to fight for a better world, to undo what was done to you—to all of us—to undo the powers of those who kill and feed at will…and yet when it comes to your precious bloodlines, you fall into the same regressive bullshit of the ones you claim to hate.”
So Devon had conceded. He would meet this hybrid, he would talk to her, and perhaps he would help her.
He switched the music, his stoic expression never faltering, even as he fought rising annoyance at the Bee Gees’ ridiculous disco.
“Awwww…” The less than stoic boy beside him—turned at Devon’s own hand, in a famous American nightclub during the disco era itself—moaned at the switch. “Coldplay?”
“Shhhh…” Devon joked, stroking his younger lover’s hand. “At least I’m not making you listen to the Backstreet Boys.”
“Hey!” A protest came from the backseat. “I nearly turned one of those fools…”
The four men—though they became far less concerned with gender, as the decades bled into one another—fell into easy banter, waiting still for the women who would change their afterlives forever.
Helena and Bette smiled and made nonsensical smalltalk for the next hour as they walked happily, side by side. If not for the fact that it was the middle of the night, they might have looked like any other couple, in love and out for a stroll. The strange items which they carried also gave them away somewhat. Bette’s large black duffel bag on one shoulder contained wooden stakes, arrows, and boxes of silver bullets.
Helena carried the crossbow. She slung it over one shoulder, while Bette kept an old gun also found beside the crossbow, tucked in the back of her jeans.
Feeling playful suddenly, Bette reached out and pinched Helena’s ass. She was met with a well placed kick in her own butt. She chuckled and took Helena’s hand sweetly.
“How much longer?” She asked after a few moments had passed in silence.
“You’ve got to stop asking me that every five minutes” Helena said in mock annoyance. “An hour, perhaps more. The skies are quiet, aren’t they.”
“yup. No flying bats or vampires…no running wolves…” Bette gave a warning growl, deep in her throat, lest any others in their midst think that she would be easy pickings.
The gravel crunched underfoot as they found themselves walking along the highway itself. Up ahead, they found the dark Sedan they were looking for.
Tbc…

That was so good…its like everybody’s a hybrid or something…it’s so sci-fi channel..lol…it’s late, so don’t mind me…pps
oh Hel I so loved this chapter, cause you got us all wondering who is what and if they will be accepted or not. Can’t wait for more.
hehe..arm chewing, the Bee Gees and how much longer, wicked chap
Damn right the ‘disco’ Bee Gees were annoying. Their earlier incarnations weren’t so bad, but by then they sounded like chimps on speed. (BTW, the earliest form of disco had a lot more to do with soul and funk than the pop crap we now know under that name.) So Bette’s hybrid (how green was my wolfie) and Jenny is just as universally reviled as ever. But she doesn’t seem to have any regrets now that she’s not crumbling. Nor many on Helena’s part, either. As yet, but Tina seems to, so what’s her deal? Glad you’re not bailing on this one, but you know I have the hunger for PT in my blood. Oww, owww, owwwwooooh!
Hmmmm….Blue Oyster Cult. Where have I heard that before?
Ok hb, let me get this straight, pardon the expression. Bette here is a werewolf and Helena a new vampire, and you don’t want to write PT cos of the bad things you have done to B and H THERE??? Yer breaking my heart hb…you be making my Belena undead killers and what have you!May I recommend diet pepsi instead as a fine beverage? I would like to know how funny knows what chimps on speed sound like..what kinda parties SHE been going to? I LIKE the Bee Gees, at least the pre disco stuff… I shall tolerate no maligning!! Going now to hide away from all you bloodthirsty undead prowling howling critters…
i’m writing PT tonite…but i’m feeling badly cuz bad bad things have happened in the chapter i’m writing…it’s turning into the saddest thing since xena died for the 100th and final time.
Hi there… I’m very glad that you decided to continue for some more, cause I really like it… :-)
I’m so glad the twisted tale will continue. Maybe we need an immortal from Highlander thrown in for good measure. ; )
Praise be, HB! (ha, that rhymes!) Glad to hear PT is back in the pipeline. Hope you get it out tonight as I really should devote tomorrow to studying for a seriously hairy test tomorrow night. But with the hunger in my blood unsatisfied for so long I may not be able to resist whenever it shows up. May it be soon. And you’re not scaring me with your somber pronouncments regarding Xena’s multideaths. YOU seem to have survived them all, just like the rest of us. So bring it on! And susannah, I’ve certainly seen the effects of speed on humans, and between old Tarzan movies and nature programs I certainly know what chimp shrieks sound like, so it only takes a little imagination to put the two together. It’s a thought that makes me want to run away. BTW, did you know the eldest Bee Gee was born in the same miniscule nation my father’s antecedents were shunned away from? Rumor has it they were horse theives. Just a fun fact for you.
funny I am fairly certain the oldest Bee Gee stole no horses!
ok, an immortal scotswoman shall be thrown in for madcapper. i looooove that ‘can’t die cept for a beheading’ sh**! hehe, poooor xena. and NO i did NOT survive that dissapointment! *kicks universal’s a** for ruining her favorite lesbo franchise…pt is stalled..soon though…lol
Hello HB, I am so happy that you are going to bring us more of this incredibly entertaining and wickedly diverse story. You are certainly throwing in everything including the kitchen sink and as I read this story (as well as your other amazing adventures) I can feel the insane amount of fun you must be having bringing everything together. Your creativity is so amazing and such an inspiration, you Rock my world :P. Sincerely, JC
funnyone, i believe i was singing it over and over one night when you reminded me of its wonderous wonder…other than that song, i don’t listen to the blue oysters. the bee gees were mildly amusing in their disconess, but i guess it was just an opportunity to get some gay vampire action going on. i may even have to write some m/m scene and FREAK everyone out!! PT is going very very slowly…it’s hard to write it when I’ve done such a meanie thing to the two mains…
I suspect Devon will be impressed by Hybrid Bette, but what’s he going to make of the no-longer-crumbling insatiable vampire and zombie wannabe?
Hey babe, I got caught up! hehe … I love that whatever the story, Jenny’s still a loose cannon, I am *also* glad that you decided to continue, but oh my, what have you done to PT if it’s as bad as Xena’s 100th death, *cries*
