    Children of the Night Ch5

    Ch 5

Carmen decided since they were in Vegas already, they might as well stay for a few more nights.

As Carmen promised, she took them to a nice restaurant for Shane to try caviar.  Shane nearly choked on her first spoonful of caviar.   It has a unique fishy oily taste which took her a second spoonful to get used to.  Anyway, she wasn’t expecting Carmen to keep her words.

The remaining days of their stay in Vegas were less eventful which mainly consisted of Carmen’s shopping, watching shows and dining at various restaurants.  Carmen also bought Shane some new jeans and shirts which she accepted otherwise she would be wearing the same clothes everyday!

Shane was surprised at how pleasant it was to spend the days with Carmen.  She was always full of spirit and energy – well most of the times anyway.  Carmen did most of the talking which Shane didn’t mind as she wasn’t a big talker.

Carmen also enjoyed her time with Shane, as she was usually followed by her brother’s dump bodyguards instead of someone she had a crush on.  In fact, the only reason why she insisted that her brother ‘forced’ Shane to be her bodyguard was to spend more time with her.  Although love couldn’t be forced, she was hoping that at least in time Shane would change her perception of her.  She loved taking Shane to her favourite places in Vegas and sharing her world with her.  But the more time she spent with her, the more she was convinced that Shane was hiding her true emotions.

They went back to LA a week after.  Vegas was adventurous and an eye opener for Shane especially meeting all the gangsters in the California region, not to mention the kind of lifestyle Carmen led.

Carmen gave Shane’s directions to her place, it was in the middle of a residential area in Bel Air.  After they went through the steel front gate, Shane still couldn’t see the house.  The front garden was massive. A fleet of car at the end of the drive caught her attention; Porche, Ferrari, Bentley, and a pink Ducati motorbike.  Finally, the mansion came into sight, it has three floors, very modern and grand!  It looked like a normal house from the outside, but as soon as Shane walked pass the front door, she felt something odd.  First, the security measure was so tight that she was surprised that there was no DNA scan before entry.  The decorations were very chic and looked expensive.

    1. Noo, Carmen shouldn’t give up! She was right when she said that “what can be broken can be mended. Your wound will heal. The hardest part is to forgive yourself. What happened was not your fault.” It’s only been a week right, so she still has 3 weeks left. Shane seems to have warmed up to her a tiny bit, so she’s made some progress in making Shane view her in a different light. This is a great fic! Hope you update soon! :-)
