Ch 6

After what happened last night, Shane didn’t wake up until late afternoon the next day.  .  Loud music was pumping out of Carmen’s bedroom, she decided to leave her alone until she was summoned. 

She went to kitchen and poured herself some cereals.  Carmen came in as Shane was finishing her coffee.

“You want breakfast?  Or lunch or tea whatever you called it.”  Shane offered.

“No thanks.  I had breakfast AND lunch already while you were sleeping.” Carmen replied.

“You were up early!”  Shane commented.

“I have work to do.”  She sat down opposite her at the table.

“Really?  You work?”  Shane looked amused.

“There are many things that you don’t know about me.  OK. It is not strictly work… I spin a couple of hours a week at Ray’s nightclub – you know, as a DJ.”  She shrugged.

“Interesting…”  She said, narrowing her eyes.  

“Stop judging me.  I can’t stand having to explain my actions with you. Come on, we are going out.”   She waved her hands and rolled her eyes as she walked out.

Shane followed her to the garage where Carmen’s bike was parked.  

“Wow, it’s a Ducati 1098S.”  Shane traced her fingers along the contour of the pink monster.   Her fingers stopped at the ‘Children of the Night’ sticker.

“That’s why I picked you. I thought we had something in common.” Carmen told Shane.

Shane looked at the other side of the bike which has Carmen’s name printed on it. 

“Nicely done.  You are not a subtle person, aren’t you.”  Shane complimented the work. 

“Well, nobody will steal my bike this way.  I had countless bikes being stolen before. You can drive this today if you want.”  She smiled shyly and threw her the keys. 

“Cool.” Shane mounted on the bike and started the engine.  Then she felt a pair on hands wrapping around her waist.   She looked back and saw Carmen sitting comfortably there, so she decided against saying anything.

Carmen was listening to the latest CDs in a music store.  Carmen already stacked up a pile of CDs in Shane’s hands.
