    Baby-making….

    Tina was standing with her back against the door. She absolutely hated the side of Bette she was facing at that moment. Bette’s voice was cold and distant as if her mind was really somewhere else. Part of Tina wanted to agree with Bette that, yes, the trip was indeed a waste of time. At best.

    It had always scared her a little when she saw Bette like this, absorbed in whatever task was at hand, unable or unwilling to change her focus even for a second. Tina knew it was that ability, which made Bette so incredibly good at her work. Her ability to concentrate and strive for the perfect end result was uncanny. And when her focus was on Tina that exact ability made Bette the love of her life.

    “I didn’t call because I didn’t want to be told you were going to be late again. I didn’t want to be told you don’t have time. I didn’t want to be told that me coming over here is a waste of time…” Tina said, trying to control her emotions and her voice.

    Bette opened her mouth to say something. Tina took one step into the room. The light fell on her face. Bette recognized the look on Tina’s face. The thwarted look in her eyes, the saddened expression, the tension at the shoulders was all too familiar to Bette. She knew Tina had been crying. She knew Tina’s face well enough to be able to tell even hours after her tears had dried up.

    “… T… what’s the matter?” What happened?” Bette asked and tentatively reached out her hand towards Tina.
    “You weren’t home when I needed you to be…. that’s what happened…” Tina whispered. She felt her burgeoning anger dissipate, but she couldn’t bring herself to take Bette’s hand.
    “Are you sure that’s all….? I mean not that that’s not enough or anything… it’s just…. you look like… like something happened…” Bette stammered, knowing she was treading a fine line.
    “… yeah…” Tina breathed, letting go of the last vestiges of anger when she caught a glimpse of the fear in Bette’s eyes.
    “Yeah what, baby….?” Bette said in the softest of voices.
    “Yeah, something happened… something happened that I could only share with you…”

They need to be in it together.. not just when they have a child but in creating it..and through the pregnancy. Can’t wait for more. I love this story. Its really a rebuilding of their relationship.     11. Tina reclaimed her wife before Bette strayed to far away from her. Their relationship has grown so much from the last time they were separated. Tina recognized the signs that Bette was getting lost in work & Bette accepted her reminder & was able to correct it the situation before their relationship suffered a major setback. This is a much stronger B & T and I hope they were successful in producing a little Kennard – Porter! Ciao.

    14. I guess every couple experiences that time when they see a side of their partner that is a little foreign to them. Accepting and moving forward isn’t always so easy. Good ending showing them more on the same page. I’m not a tremendous lover of the baby so soon storyline, but I know it’s a popular theme. Nice writing! Thanks!

    16. May their wait be fruitful. Tina took the stand about Bette’s work and probably saved their life as a couple. The emotions ran free and probably brought a little peace to both of their spirits.

    22. Hello Ank, Good to have you back and posting more of this amazing adventure. I loved the way that Tina called Bette out on her recent behavior. Yes, Bette had started a new job but that shouldn’t allow her to ignore Tina and their plans to get pregnant. After everything that they have been through it was a shame that Bette was once again excaping into her work. Yes, it was completely understandable as that is the one place where Bette feels secure in doing the right thing. TIna was a megastar in pointing out everything. Then to cap it off, you had them snuggled in bed, hopeful that the latest insemination had worked. It was wonderful to picture them in bed with Bette’s cuddling Tina as she slept. There little talk undid all of the previuos hurt adn showed what a powerful couple they have become. Now I just want you to confirm the pregnancy and get on with this joyful journey.
