    Baby-making….

    “How is it that coming home at a decent hour is an option for you, when staying late at work is a must?” Tina asked quietly.
    The question stabbed Bette at the heart. She wanted to say the thing that would assure Tina of her feelings, of what she wanted and needed the most. But she wondered herself why it was that work didn’t seem like a choice to her, when coming home before dinner did.

    Bette bit her lip and took a step back from Tina. She sat down at the edge of her desk, hanging her head. Tina stayed where she was, watching as Bette searched for an answer.

    “… I don’t know who I am if I’m not the best I can be at work…. I just don’t know, T…”

    Tina took a moment to think about Bette’s answer. The answer tugged at the strings of her heart. She knew Bette was giving her the absolute truth, sharing something even she didn’t understand.

    Tina went to Bette and crouched down before her. “Baby…. I know this challenges your identity… I know parenthood is going to change both of us. But I know you’re going to be an amazing mom… and I know you are the only one I can do this with…” Tina said and took Bette’s hands to make sure she was listening, “once our baby is here… your priorities will most likely change without you even noticing. But Bette I need you with me through the whole process… I can’t wait till you’re holding our baby in your arms. You need to at least try to make that change now.”

    “But we’re not parents yet…”

    “No, we’re not. But we might never be if I spend all my nights alone, Bette. I don’t expect you to change over night… but in my mind parenthood starts here… I need to know if you’re up to the task or not…” Tina said, looking up at Bette.
    “Are you threatening me?”
    “What? No! I’m stating a fact, Bette. You and I don’t need to guess what happens when you work all the time… we know. We can’t afford to forget what happened last time. We can’t afford to wait and see…. I’m not sure we’ll get a third chance. And I can’t afford losing you… not again… not ever.” Tina said, raising her voice in an attempt to drown out the anger in Bette’s eyes.
    “… I can’t lose you either….”
    “… that’s why I’m here… so we don’t wander off in different directions again, baby…”

    11. Tina reclaimed her wife before Bette strayed to far away from her. Their relationship has grown so much from the last time they were separated. Tina recognized the signs that Bette was getting lost in work & Bette accepted her reminder & was able to correct it the situation before their relationship suffered a major setback. This is a much stronger B & T and I hope they were successful in producing a little Kennard – Porter! Ciao.

    14. I guess every couple experiences that time when they see a side of their partner that is a little foreign to them. Accepting and moving forward isn’t always so easy. Good ending showing them more on the same page. I’m not a tremendous lover of the baby so soon storyline, but I know it’s a popular theme. Nice writing! Thanks!

    16. May their wait be fruitful. Tina took the stand about Bette’s work and probably saved their life as a couple. The emotions ran free and probably brought a little peace to both of their spirits.

    22. Hello Ank, Good to have you back and posting more of this amazing adventure. I loved the way that Tina called Bette out on her recent behavior. Yes, Bette had started a new job but that shouldn’t allow her to ignore Tina and their plans to get pregnant. After everything that they have been through it was a shame that Bette was once again excaping into her work. Yes, it was completely understandable as that is the one place where Bette feels secure in doing the right thing. TIna was a megastar in pointing out everything. Then to cap it off, you had them snuggled in bed, hopeful that the latest insemination had worked. It was wonderful to picture them in bed with Bette’s cuddling Tina as she slept. There little talk undid all of the previuos hurt adn showed what a powerful couple they have become. Now I just want you to confirm the pregnancy and get on with this joyful journey.
