Family Sunday
“Thanks for the coffee.”
“Kit said you’d better eat because lunch wouldn’t be ready until 1 or so.”
Bette took a bite of the sandwich. She had worked up an appetite.
“I’m going to jump in the shower.”
“Aren’t you getting back in the pool when AJ gets here?”
“I am.”
“So, why are you taking a shower now?
Bette gave Shane a knowing glance.
“Ah, you want to freshen up for a certain little blonde?”
Bette rolled her eyes.
“I’ll be quick.”
Shane shook her head and smiled.
“So fucking cute.”
When Bette returned, Kit was prepping the food.
“Does AJ like hotdogs, Baby Girl?”
“He’s five. I’m sure he loves hot dogs.”
Kit nodded. Bette shook her head and smiled at everything Kit was making.
“Don’t you think you’re going a little overboard, Kit?”
Kit shrugged. Bette stole a pickle. Kit playfully swatted at her with a towel. Bette spun out of the way and bumped into KiKi.
“KiKi! What a surprise.”
“I invited her,” James spoke up.
“Am I intruding, Dear?”
“Of course not. I’m glad you’re here. I should’ve invited you myself. Thanks, James.”
James nodded. KiKi smiled.
“How are you feeling about the opening, Dear?”
“Better question. How are YOU feeling about the opening?”
“It’s been a long time since I’ve shown my work as you know. I don’t remember it being this perfect.”
KiKi was gifted with the famous Bette Porter smile. Then Bette laughed her signature laugh. It was far from perfect but at the same time, KiKi was right. It was absolutely perfect.
“The response has been amazing. We sold quite a bit at the opening and last night at the dinner. I won’t have exact numbers for you until James and I have a chance to tally the receipts. But I have no doubt, every piece will be sold.”
“Except for Forgiveness.”
“What?”
“Forgiveness is not for sale.”
“KiKi, we’ve already had several generous offers for Forgiveness. Including some major galleries.”
“How nice, Dear. But as I’ve said, it’s not for sale.”
Bette looked at James. Adam, Lexie and AJ arrived just as she was about to turn her attention back to KiKi.
“Ms. Bettttttttttte.”
Everyone watched AJ run and jump into Bette’s arms. Bette instinctively swung him around. Bette adored AJ and everyone could tell.

Great chapter!
Bette and AJ and together with Tina, he is so smart and adorable! Very clever from him to let them join him in the pool.
Bette is ready to try to rebuild their relationship and Tina comes with that line, “Things that will most likely break your heart…some more.”. But they have to make a clean start and this is necessary to put everything out and then away to never come back.
I’m sad the end is coming but also looking forward to the next chapter.
Thank you so much! I’ll be tackling a GenQ storyline when I’m done with this one. This my first attempt at fanfic and it has been such a privilege writing this story. When it’s all done, I’ll go back and read it from start to finish to see what I could’ve done better.
Bette is ready to rebuild but she’s also nervous. She portrays alpha but we know she’s fragile. So I’m excited to see how Tina navigates her fragility and how Bette hopefully starts to forgive her. But I don’t know. We shall see.
Next chapter is going to be a doozy for sure!
AJ is my absolute favorite. I kinda wish I wrote him as an orphan or something. I love the way Bette and AJ interact.
You are a great writer, your writing style is really good, don’t think you have to change anything. I especially love how you write their inner thoughts. The story flows and keeps you wanting more.
I adore AJ, maybe you can add him in your new story. Bette doing something for a orphan house, they meet and Bette and him bond immediately and Bette wants to adopt him, giving him the warm and loving home he deserves. I am adopted and it would be so great to read something like that. But whatever you’re new story will be about, i will certainly read it!
Geez they finally talk and so intense….
