    “What? It’s cute.”

“That’s the problem. It’s cute and not sexy.”

“Today is not about me. Or Bette for that matter. It’s about AJ. He doesn’t care what kind of swimsuit I’m wearing. He just wants to play in the pool.”

“Yeah. But you still could’ve picked a sexier one for Bette.”

Tina hoped Bette was wearing her white bikini. She loved that one on her. Alice opened the driver’s side door and started to get out. Tina suddenly got nervous. She looked at the house. Paralyzed.

“What are you doing, Tee? Let’s go.”

Tina didn’t move. Alice turned to face her.

    “Tee?”

“Let me borrow your car, Al.”

    “For what?”

“Umm…I need to pick something up from the store.”

Alice could see the uncertainty in Tina’s eyes but she was not going to let Tina get in her own way. Not today.

    “No.”

    “No?”

“Nope. You can’t borrow my car. You are going to get your bony ass into your house and you’re going to smile and flirt and TALK to Bette.”

    “My ass is not bony.”

    “It’s a little bony.”

Tina sighed. Alice was right. She wasn’t nervous about seeing Bette. She was excited to see Bette…maybe a little too excited. She was nervous about going into the house. The last time she was here she stormed out with all of her belongings.

    Tina sighed.

“It’s okay, Tee. You can do this. You have to do this.”

    Tina nodded.

AJ and Shane were laughing and splashing each other in the pool. There was just something about the sound of a kid’s laughter. This was exactly what Bette’s soul needed. She looked around at everyone and she wondered when Tina was going to arrive. Her thoughts always turned back to Tina. She was the sun at the center of her universe. Even now.

    Bette closed her eyes.

“The center of my universe,” Bette said out loud to no one.

    “What’d you say,” James said.

    “Huh?”

    “Did you say something?”

“Apparently I’ve developed a bad habit of talking to myself, James.”

Bette shrugged. James looked at her with an odd expression. Bette rolled her eyes and squeezed his shoulder.

“Bette, your garden is beautiful,” Lexie pointed.

    “Thank you.”

“It is lovely, Dear. I’ve been mesmerized by it. It looks like something I would like to paint.”

    1. Great chapter!

Bette and AJ and together with Tina, he is so smart and adorable! Very clever from him to let them join him in the pool.

Bette is ready to try to rebuild their relationship and Tina comes with that line, “Things that will most likely break your heart…some more.”. But they have to make a clean start and this is necessary to put everything out and then away to never come back.

I’m sad the end is coming but also looking forward to the next chapter.

      • Thank you so much! I’ll be tackling a GenQ storyline when I’m done with this one. This my first attempt at fanfic and it has been such a privilege writing this story. When it’s all done, I’ll go back and read it from start to finish to see what I could’ve done better.

Bette is ready to rebuild but she’s also nervous. She portrays alpha but we know she’s fragile. So I’m excited to see how Tina navigates her fragility and how Bette hopefully starts to forgive her. But I don’t know. We shall see.

Next chapter is going to be a doozy for sure!

AJ is my absolute favorite. I kinda wish I wrote him as an orphan or something. I love the way Bette and AJ interact.

        • You are a great writer, your writing style is really good, don’t think you have to change anything. I especially love how you write their inner thoughts. The story flows and keeps you wanting more.

I adore AJ, maybe you can add him in your new story. Bette doing something for a orphan house, they meet and Bette and him bond immediately and Bette wants to adopt him, giving him the warm and loving home he deserves. I am adopted and it would be so great to read something like that. But whatever you’re new story will be about, i will certainly read it!
