She glanced at her watch and saw that it was quarter to five; she still had some time to work on the centerpiece of the exhibit before meeting Tina and heading home and their evening at Milk with the girls.
She turned her computer monitor on so that she could open the program to view the security monitors, she needed to switch to each camera so that she could make the necessary adjustments for the new exhibition, as her computer booted up she got up and went for a fresh cup of coffee.
“Hey James, fancy a cup?” Bette asked as she passed him at his work station.
“No, thanks. Actually Bette, would it Ok if head off soon. I’ve got some plans for this evening and” James didn’t have the opportunity of explaining further as Bette held her hand up.
“Absolutely, we’ve had a really productive day. I’m only working till five thirty so, you carry on. Uh do you know if there is anyone else around this late on a Friday?” Bette enquired with a raised eyebrow, knowing that they probably had ‘meetings’ to attend and wouldn’t be returning for the day.
“No, it’s just you, me, and Martha out front in the gallery.” James confirmed.
“Ok, well if you head out in a minute can you let Martha know that she can leave as well, can you lock up the front on your way out and then I’ll set the alarms when I leave?” Bette got herself out of having to keep her eye out on any stray visitors visiting the gallery by letting Martha go early as well.
“Thanks Bette, that’s great. Oh by the way, don’t forget your appointment cancelled for tomorrow, so you now have a clear diary, I’m on the rota for working tomorrow so I can cover any enquiries for you, so why don’t you just take the day off tomorrow and have the whole weekend off, it’ll save you having to come in on a Saturday and I really don’t mind.”
Bette looked at James, astonished at his offer to cover her Saturday morning, but very tempted to take him up on his offer. “Are you sure you wouldn’t mind?”
“Certainly, really its fine, we haven’t been very busy the last week or so, due to only part of the gallery being open, so really, its fine.” James reassured.
