Just The Girl – Chapter Eight (a HYD-inspired fic)

    ——————————–

Bette Porter was lost in her own thoughts as she sat all alone on top of the bleachers beside the soccer field. She had went there to let off some steam after she left her friends inside the cafeteria. Shane and Alice were calling her cell phone for the past few minutes now. They were probably looking for her. She was in the process of rejecting Alice’s fifth call when she saw Tina emerging from the back doors of the main school building. She watched as the blonde jumped down the few steps and ran towards the freshly watered soccer field. Less than a minute later, Bette’s army burst through the doors, nearly knocking it off from its hinges as they chased Tina down. She jumped up slightly and frowned when she saw Tina falling flat on her face. The mob finally reached her and began to surround Tina.

Tina loved looking at the soccer field from up above the third floor balcony. But definitely not from this vantage point, she thought as her face connected with the ground as she tripped on her own two feet, sending her left shoe flying out. She didn’t know if she should feel happy that the ground was soft — or absolutely horrified because it was literally all mud. In her haste, she forgot that the field was sprinkled down with water every Monday. Great, this is just great, she thought as she saw the front of her body covered in mud when she tried to stand up. "Ouch!!" She screamed when she felt someone push her from behind, sending her once again into the ground.

"No." Bette whispered angrily as soon as she heard Tina’s shout. What the hell were you thinking when you lifted the ban Porter? She chastised herself as she watched Tina struggle with her oppressors. "No." She whispered again as she watched another student grab Tina by her jacket and lift her up.. only to push her down again.

"Stop it!!" Tina screamed as she hit the ground. She was on the verge of tears. "Stop!!" She screamed as she felt another one trying to pull her up again by her arms.

Bette breathed heavilly as she continued to watch the scene unfold. She didn’t know how much torture Tina could take.. and she didn’t know just how much pain she could endure just by watching idly as the students hurt Tina. And it was her own fault. She made them do this. She reached her breaking point when she saw a tall brown haired girl lift a shoe from the ground, the one she saw fly out from Tina’s foot, and aimed it at the blonde. "NO!!!!!!!!!!!" Bette shouted at the top of her lungs as she lunged forward and jumped over a few levels on the bleachers. Enough, her mind shouted. Do the right thing.. Helena’s words burned inside her head.

    1. I’m really enjoying this story so far, and can’t wait for Bette to stop being such an ass and make it right! Although I feel Tina’s going to take A LOT of persuasion to get her head round this one! pps x

    2. way to go bette… thats one way to win someone over… i was wondering if sam was going to come to her rescue… but was happy to see bette stop that shit too… wow what a story… and i’m loving it… thanks for answering my questions… PPS

    3. I can’t believe Bette let Tina get hurt like that. Poor Tina! Time for Bette to pull her head out of her wazoo and do the right thing for once in her self absorbed life.

    4. Loved the way you portrayed their feelings, but my question is: Does this type of hazing and bullying really happen in american schools? Nothing like that even came close to that in my high school, hell, even country..
