    Bette, Tina, Dana, Alice, Shane, Carmen, Helena, Dylan, Kit, Angus, Peggy, and Marilyn discover what John Lennon said in the song, “Beautiful Boy” is absolutely true: “Life is what happens while you’re busy making other plans.”

    “Why not?”

    “She’s preggers.  Hello?”

    “Oh, that’s just an Old Wives’ Tale.  I read that poppy seeds used for cooking are fine for pregnant women.  They can’t go out into a poppy field in Afghanistan with the heroin producers and grab a handful of seeds and eat ‘em up, but the cooking ones are okay.”

    “And you know this how?”  Dana grinned at Alice’s know-it-all attitude.

     

    “I’ve been reading stuff.”

    “Thinking about going into the drug trade?”

    “No-oh, smartie.  C’mere.  I wanna show you something.”  Alice reached out and grabbed the hem of Dana’s tank top and pulled her toward her.  “Come ‘ere.”

    “What?  Can I get my drink first?”

    Alice sighed.  “Yes, go ahead.  God knows I don’t want to keep you from your smoothie.”

    “Healthy, protein drink.”

    “Smoothie.”

    Dana picked up her drink, stuck a wide straw in it, and followed Alice through their condo.  “Where’re we going?”

    “Follow, follow, follow.”

    * * * * *

    Kit was pacing her office at the Planet talking on her Blackberry.  “Uh-huh.  Yeah?  Nah, girl you kiddin’ me?  For real?”  Kit listened and paced some more as the smile on her face blossomed into a full-fledged grin.  “Yeah, I hear what you sayin’.  Damn.  Damn.  I can’t believe it.”  She listened as the voice on the other end spoke, then she said, “I know.  I have to keep tellin’ myself that.  Thank you.  Nah, if it wuhn’t for you.”  She listened again and nodded as the other person spoke, “That’s what I’m talkin’ about.  Grrrl.  You know it.”  She listened, and then said, “Yeah, let’s get together next week.”  There was a pause while she listened, “Nah, no champagne for me, but I’ll have some sparklin’ cider or somethin’.”  She listened a final time and ended the conversation by saying, “You, too Nona.  I guess I do have a lot to be thankful for.  That’s right.  I’ll call you in a few days to set somethin’ up.  Ah ‘ight?”  Nona Hendryx spoke once more and then Kit said goodbye.

    She clicked off the phone, dropped it on her desk, and walked quickly to the door.  She was lightly clapping her hands in excitement as she moved down the hall to the main room of The Planet.  “Where’s Angus?”

My favourite couple have obviously been dana and alice, and you’ve written them and their story just perfectly, how it should have been, for me anyway.     6. Portia, thank you so much for this epic love story. I’m happy that all of the characters are happy and content. The loop holes that the show had created, you have thoroughly patched. That for me is remarkable. Jenny’s death in season 5 and her magazine being thrown in the pool – what can I say, your attention to detail is a gold standard in fanfic. Kudos to you and also Wendy for creating this wonderful story.

    13. I read this chapter as slowly as I could so that I could savor every word of it. It was worth me taking the time, although I was fully aware that each time I clicked “Next page” I was that much closer to the finish. This was a fantastic end to such a richly layered story. Everyone got their ending, and each and every one of them earned it… the struggles each couple/family had to overcome to get to their happiness made it all the more believable. You didn’t cheat, Portia, not the readers, not the story. This has been such an absolute treat to read, through all the highs and lows, and I’ve loved every single word of it. (And kudos for not forgetting Jenny this chapter! heh) Thank you, Portia, for writing this story and taking us on the journey with you. Take care, and I hope we see another story from you soon.

    18. well after about a month and a half im finally finish with your story and as I wrote you before I truly believe you are a gift to writing and taking readers along for the experience. I had to stop several times for work or sleep but it was well worth the time. I prolonged finishing the last chapter didn’t want t see it end, but like the L word, like tibette chemistry, all good things but come to end….Bravo!! my friend I hope to see a book with your name on it forreal..til next story………

You did an absolutely remarkable job with this. The story telling, the storyline, the interweaving of the characters, seasons, cannon and AU was beyond incredible. You have amazing talent and I hope to read more of your incredible work. Amazingly done!
