Laid Up: Another Season 3 – Chapter 31 (Conclusion and Epilogue)
“You won’t see us until probably nine, maybe later.”
Kit kissed Bette goodbye. “Let me get my man and Mo. I think little bro should stay at my place tonight. He’s depressed. No point in him being alone.”
“Good idea.” Bette kissed Kit again. “I love you.”
“I love you, too baby girl.” Kit turned to the doors that led to the back. “Angus? Let’s get goin’. You, too, Mo. Tina can’t be up all night.”
“It’s not me, it’s the baby. She’s not a night owl. She’s been stretching all night trying to get comfortable and beating me up from the inside.” Tina stood between the dining room and living room. She was dressed in a long forest green robe.
Bette looked at Tina. “Are you all right?”
“Yeah, just tired.” She began to walk Mo, Angus, and Kit to the door. Bette followed and they all kissed goodbye.
As soon as Tina closed the door, she turned to Bette and said, “I’m not tired, just ready for them to go.”
Bette laughed. “Me, too. Long day, eh?”
Tina nodded. “You’re not going to believe the offer I got today from Helena.”
Bette smiled. “You’re not going to believe the offer I got tonight from Peggy.” Bette paused. “You first.”
They walked down the hall and to the bedroom. Inside, Tina had already created the ambience—candles were lit, music was low and playing from the iPod docking station. Tina had put on David Horowitz’s Prego. A composition off the beaten path, but one of the most beautiful pieces they had ever heard. Bette knew this playlist—it was the only song and it was repeated for an hour and a half run of classical violin. Bette walked to the dresser and retrieved a white tank top and the soft, dusty rose and white striped pajama bottoms from the drawer.
“You won’t need those,” Tina said.
Bette grinned. With the music and candlelight, Bette knew she wouldn’t, but wanted to hear Tina say it. “Okay.” Bette watched Tina dab perfume on her pulse points and Bette’s heart raced. Tina didn’t put on fragrance to sleep. “So tell me?” Bette sat on the bed and removed her shoes. “What did Helena have to say?”

Dear PortiaOnly – What an amazing journey; your dedication to this fic and your fanbase is remarkable. I know I’m going to love reading this last part, but before I do I just wanted to offer you this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IxAKFlpdcfc ‘Brava!’ & ‘Thank You!’
Portia, congrats on finishing this epic! I will always be a fan, and I was very happy to be one of the people to encourage you, and who knows–maybe you’ll have another fanfic in you that will need to come out! You’ve inspired so many of the writers here, so thank you, and I hope we’ll see you around!xoxo
wow what can i say, this story has been the best time and time again and i can say that i’ve enjoyed every bit of it, though I’m extremely sad that this is it for laid up. My favourite couple have obviously been dana and alice, and you’ve written them and their story just perfectly, how it should have been, for me anyway. For every chapter, page and word….THANK YOU PORTIA!!!!!!!!!!! xox

Oh PortiaOnly I can only say a heart felt Thank you for brining us this impressive and comprehensive epic. I have ready this story from the start. It has always amazed me how you wound the pieces of the series into this complete work. I love where you have taken all of them and how it was so true to the characters we have know. Thanks for all you hard work.
Portia, thank you so much for this epic love story. I’m happy that all of the characters are happy and content. The loop holes that the show had created, you have thoroughly patched. That for me is remarkable. Jenny’s death in season 5 and her magazine being thrown in the pool – what can I say, your attention to detail is a gold standard in fanfic. Kudos to you and also Wendy for creating this wonderful story.
Just a big thanks for taking us on this great journey, it’s been a blast…
Thank you so much for this great story, I will truly miss it.
Thank you for this story. What an (appreciated) effort.

Thank you for this story. What an undertaking! You got all the main characters involved and kept me interested. And more importantly, you finished it. I love that!
i know i’ve yet to comment on this fic and i’m sorry but i gotta tell ya it was incredible…u had like 5 stories goin at once and did em all fantastically…cheers to u Portia u did a great job!!!!
I read this chapter as slowly as I could so that I could savor every word of it. It was worth me taking the time, although I was fully aware that each time I clicked “Next page” I was that much closer to the finish. This was a fantastic end to such a richly layered story. Everyone got their ending, and each and every one of them earned it… the struggles each couple/family had to overcome to get to their happiness made it all the more believable. You didn’t cheat, Portia, not the readers, not the story. This has been such an absolute treat to read, through all the highs and lows, and I’ve loved every single word of it. (And kudos for not forgetting Jenny this chapter! heh) Thank you, Portia, for writing this story and taking us on the journey with you. Take care, and I hope we see another story from you soon.
WOW… what a story… i have been with you from the beginning and loved it all… in a way sorry to see it end… but i understand… BTW… bette and tina live near me now, just about an hour away… how cool is that…lol… again congrats on this story… who knows you may be back with a sequel or another story… we will all be here ready, willing to read anything you write… thanks and take care… please come back to us soon… later babe
Please continue writing and thank you for this grear story.
such an amazing journey and i loved every minute of it…thank you!!!
Hello PortiaOnly, This story has been an absolute joy to read. It has taken much time and dedication from you to create a momentous melodrama. So many of the images and scenes including dialogue where taken from the show and seemlessly interweaved in to your take on events.I stand up and applaud you and your wonderful talent.Thank you ever so much for sharing it with me.Your Loyal Fan.PS – I hope that you continue to write about these characters and post your work here.
well after about a month and a half im finally finish with your story and as I wrote you before I truly believe you are a gift to writing and taking readers along for the experience. I had to stop several times for work or sleep but it was well worth the time. I prolonged finishing the last chapter didn’t want t see it end, but like the L word, like tibette chemistry, all good things but come to end….Bravo!! my friend I hope to see a book with your name on it forreal..til next story………
I have thoroughly enjoyed reading this brilliant Season 3! It is so much better than the televised Season 3.
Well done you are quite a Writer! Perhaps the new Sow will inspire you to pick up tour talented pen again.
Thank you
SG
PortiaOnly- I hope you receive this message so many years after writing this incredible story but I had to tell you, this is by far one of the most amazing L Word stories I’ve ever read. You did an absolutely remarkable job with this. The story telling, the storyline, the interweaving of the characters, seasons, cannon and AU was beyond incredible. You have amazing talent and I hope to read more of your incredible work. Amazingly done!
