Love in Control – Chapter VIII – Will You Marry Me?
Rian left the safe confines of the powder room, pumped by her self-coaching, and walked down the leather-covered hall of the main level to head to the long bar, breathing in the sexy vibe of the blue-hued main level, imagining its sleekness seeping under her “skin,” picturing how a high-class girl like Morgan would walk and work this room. She grew more confident with each step, swaying her hips the way Morgan had shown her to, sliding glances past a few guys, and smiled at the instant reaction she was able to elicit from them. A supportive text from Morgan came in: You’re killing it, girl!
By the time she ordered a drink at the bar, Rian found she was beginning to have fun with this role. She even found a name to fit the role she was playing, Nikki, which the first man who offered to buy her a drink said really suited her.
He was a trader, he told her as he loosened his Hermes tie. Doing well in the market, even with the wild gyrations the financial markets had been experiencing of late, he bragged after she’d dropped subtle cues that she was working tonight. He quickly realized that she liked smart conversation, challenging him to use more of the grey stuff between his ears with her repartee’. He pulled out his “A-game,” eyeing Rian as Nikki, hoping this was impressing her, mentally calculating how much he would be willing to shell out for a night with this surprisingly clever hottie. A lot. More than a lot, actually. Any number. She can quote any damn number she wants. How much did I spend last year on girls, anyway? $100 k? More? And none of them came wrapped in this classy, beautiful package in front of me, either.
As they started on their second round of drinks, with adroitness, Rian as Nikki skated past his implicit suggestion that they leave the bar together later.
He’d been a good first catch, but he was beginning to wear out his usefulness as a practice dummy. Cute, dresses well, eye-candy worthy, but boring. He tried and tried and tried again, calling on all the moves he’d picked up over the years, but finally gave up, disappointed that he’d been unable to pry her away from the bar. He dropped a C note on the bar, told the bar tender to cover Rian’s next drink with it, and blew her an air kiss as he walked away.

Nice, enjoyed it especially Tina and Bette in the beginning
I agree the beginning was a laugh with Bette and Tina????
Love it! loved the homage to his #purple majesty Prince!….”when doves cry…”great way to start the day! My thanks!
Oh, that was absolute worth the long wait!
Fantastic and sexy chapter, wouldn’t mind if you write more B&T in your story.
But Rian and Jade captured my heart, they are a great couple.
Thanks for the update!
You can be sure that yes, it was worth the wait
for another fantastic chapter!
My heart always Tibette, however Jade and Rian captivated me.
The whole universe
I’m with all the above especially wkm and Dee22 Tibette always.
Worth the wait, thanks.
Hello everyone. Thanks for taking the time to comment. A few caveats: the story arc for “Love In Control” will not have much Bette/Tina romance, although there will be occasional scenes. Their story is evolving in this book — the evolution will see them in a family unit, rather than as a couple. This particular arc started with scenes in earlier chapters, and will be more central in the next chapters. I think I’ve gone over their romance (exhaustively) in the other books already, anyway, and I really don’t have much more to say about “Tibette” than what I’ve already written in the other books.
I sense that it’s time that they evolve and mature in my stories, as characters, otherwise, their story arc will not make much sense if they remain struck in TiBette-land (at least in my storyline). To be perfectly honest, an evolving, maturing Bette/Tina, in the way I’ve been writing about them, is infinitely more interesting for me to write. I can sense them growing, and it seems to be as part of a family unit: this evolution is more authentic and important in this book than “TiBette.” it’s the other couples, in the meantime, who will be developing their own romances.
In the end this book is about a few kinds of love, what they mean, etc., but make no mistake the evolving Bette/Tina take on love remains the central/anchoring one for this book, particularly as things take a turn in the next chapters.
i may disappoint many of the readers who take the time to click through the pages of this story … I hope they will understand that I really can’t write a story if it’s not something I believe in or can stand behind, or would even want to read myself. I have moved on, and have explored the limits of that particular time in their lives through several books already, and so have the Bette and Tina characters in my storylines. They are different now from who they were in the TiBette version of the earlier books from who they seem to be growing into —
maybe I should re-classify this book to another fandom, different from “L Word” even if Bette and Tina and their family are central characters?
I seem to be raising expectations by slotting this book under “L Word.” And that’s not fair to you, the readers.
While Bette and Tina originally attracted me to your writing, your Jade/Rain and Aerin/Harley characters have captivated me. Their unexplored characters are ripe with endless plot lines. Don’t apologize for the lack of TiBette romance, as your other characters and your writing are rich enough to sustain my appetite for a romantic escape.
