    Neighbors Ch. 2

Claire smiled. “You want me to talk to people during class the teachers might not like that.”

Bette grinned she was happy that Claire was lightening up. “Haha talk to them before class…see if you have anything in common with them. They’d be lucky to be your friend.”

Claire playfully rolled her eyes. “You know your pep talk losses some credibility because you’re my mom and you have to say things like that.”

Bette smiled. “That doesn’t make what I said any less true. My high opinion of you has nothing to do with you being my daughter. It has everything to do with you being….”

Bette ringing cell phone cut her off. She got up and retrieved off of the kitchen counter. She turned to Claire. “…it has everything to do with you being an amazing person. Honey I have to answer this I asked James to do some things for me before I got to the gallery.”

Claire looked at her then looked at the clock which was inching closer to the time they had planned on leaving. “Tell James I said hi.”

“I will don’t worry this won’t take long…” Bette answered the phone and started talking to James before turning back to Claire. “Honey why don’t you get your stuff ready and I’ll meet you out by the car.”

Claire took the keys and walked out to the Saab with her bag. She tossed it in the car and walked down the driveway. The neighborhood was quiet she wasn’t used to it being this quiet, living in New York she was used to it being at least a little noisy and there was always people coming and going but she didn’t hear a thing here. That wasn’t entirely true she could hear the ocean, the waves crashing against the shore. Claire closed her eyes and took in a deep breath smelling the ocean air…this place wasn’t too bad it had a lot of redeeming qualities.

She was brought out of her trance when she heard a car speeding down the street only to park in the driveway across from her. It was the same boy her Aunt Kit was talking to the other day, Dean. She had watched them talk from behind the curtains, he was really cute and according to her aunt he was also a very decent guy. Kit could usually sniff out if people were phony, she had a harder life then her mom and was around some not so nice people and by the way her aunt was bragging about Dean and how he had fixed her baby…well Claire knew that Dean had made a friend for life.

    1. We need more. Its great how you brought all our favorite characters in to play, but most of them are teenagers. Dean will definitly be the defender, and will end up with Claire, cos even though no one knows it yet they’re mother’s are destined to be together. Can’t wait for them to meet.

    2. Sorry, but I really miss helping hand. This is a little too High School for me, but I like your style.Needs more B&T. Thats just my taste..Please no offense, I really do luv ya. Just being honest!hugs

    3. Loved all the new (old) characters of this story. I can’t wait for Dean to meet Bette or for that matter all the gang to meet Bette. Then “drum roll” for Bette and Tina to meet.

    4. this is great….Claire seems to fit in well…..so I have a feeling that the guy Jeremy is one of those that Dean does not like huh? Can’t wait for the moms to meet. I like that you have Harrison included in the group. I always thought he was humorous. he and Alice play off each other well. great job. PPS

    5. Yeah, I’m with ayesha! Funny to have Harrison in the group, gives a different and interesting dynamic! I really really like this story, Toribio! Can’t wait to see where you’re taking this… I used to tell you that we all fell in love with Eli… Well, I think we’re all falling in love with Dean now… Ahaha, how amazing is that??? But I hope you won’t have us wait too long to have the meeting between Bette and Tina… A month is a long time… Anyway, PPS on either story, I love your writing! Thanks.

    6. This is a great story premise! Mixing up the characters across generations with the Dean -Claire link is ingenious!
Where are the next chapters? PLEASE! I want/need more!
