They saw Alice storming into the café and sliding into the chair next to Dana’s. “I can’t believe that fucking moron,” she began angrily, giving Dana a quick kiss and hugging Bette, while continuing to talk.
“What happened, honey?” Dana asked with some concern.
“This idiot took the only spot available right under my nose and then had the guts to laugh at me. I had to park two blocks away. I need a drink and I mean, a drink,” Alice finished, getting calmer when Dana began to gently rub her shoulders.
“Oh,” Bette exclaimed, feeling happier when she saw this display of affection by her friends, “Tina and some scary black lady went to the office to talk and they want you to join them there.”
“Scary black lady?” Alice repeated with amusement at Bette’s choice of words.
Dana began to laugh but seeing Bette blushing with embarrassment, quickly added, “Sorry Bette, I didn’t laugh at you. I think you are really cute when you speak like that, just like a kid. Anyway, Alice, she means Kit.”
“Uh-huh,” Alice said pensively, “I’d better go and see what’s going on. I’ll be back soon, get me that drink, babe…something strong.”
She winked at Dana, briefly patted Bette’s shoulder, and was on her way to Kit’s office.
As soon as Alice opened the door to the office she knew that Kit wasn’t pleased to know who Bette was and what she was doing here. Kit was pacing around her office and Tina was sitting tensely on one of the office’s oversized chairs, looking like she was in the principal’s office for a really bad behavior.
“Here’s the other accomplice,” Kit said to Tina furiously when Alice closed the door.
“Yes, it’s Alice and before you kill her, let her tell the story so you can understand her reasons,” Tina answered, trying to sooth the situation and giving Alice a pleading look to behave and be nice.
“Ms. Porter, the first time we met I forgot to tell you what an honor it was…seriously, I love your music. Do you know that I’m an amateur musician myself?”
Not getting a response, Alice continued, “Yes, I was in a band my first year in college and we were quite popular on campus. And I even met my first girlfriend…”

OMG. Can’t wait for next chappy. Have read this before, but forgot this part, and I’m not going to look either. It will spoil the suspense.
WHAAAAT ?!! You definitely picked my curiosity with this last revelation. But actually, at this point, it’s much more than just curiosity, I just need to know ! PPS !!
So if Melvin is not Bette’s daddy, then who is? Boy, those two have it bad (fallen head over heals in love).

I have been in a terrible Post-TLW funk (I know, join the crowd) so have fallen way behind in my fan fic reading. Catching up with your chapters has been a thrill. Tina’s and Bette’s respective leaps of faith are moving and Bette’s tentative steps into the 21st century are so poignant. I love this story’s humor and its incredible inventiveness. I can’t wait for each plot twist and giddily await the next chapter. Sorry I’ve been absent for a few weeks.

Drama, drama, drama…! Wow, that’s interesting… I wonder what Alice found about Bette and what impact it will have. Bette and Tina are really cute together and I love this Bette… Both frightened and eager to know about this 21st century world. It’s endearing to see Tina being jealous of her 19th version! But I also understand her fears. Bette would have every reason to want to go back to her own world, especially with Christina alive in it… Every reason, except the main one… Be with her true love, the one and only Tina Kennard! Now Bette, what will you choose…? Thanks for this update, B&TF. Great as usual, and looking forward to the next one. Cheers, mate! K ;)
