    Chapter 50, Part 1: Look into the past (Bette and Tina found the diary)

     

    (Previously) “I’m more amazed that we’re going back to L.A. to get the diary…it’s like we’re coming full circle,” Bette shook her head in disbelief, “I can’t wait to read it to you because…well, because I want you to know me as I was before we met.”

     

    “Are you any different from who you are now?” Tina asked, looking at Bette briefly while navigating through the traffic on their way to the hotel.

     

    “I’ll let you decide on that,” Bette smiled, stroking Tina’s thigh. “By the way…I can’t wait to get back to the hotel. Today was so exhausting for us emotionally that I really need some release or I’ll go crazy.”

     

    “What kind of release?” Tina asked teasingly, knowing exactly what the brunette was talking about.

     

    “Well…I was thinking about going to the hotel’s bar, get drunk and then fall asleep in each other’s arms.”

     

    “So this is your idea of a release?” Tina feigned shock.

     

    “What do you suggest then?” Bette smiled, enjoying those little games with her girlfriend.

     

    “Well…I was thinking about going to the hotel, have a wild and passionate love making session, then go to the hotel’s bar, get drunk and fall asleep in each other’s arms.”

     

    “Hmm…I do like your idea better, baby…are we there yet?”

    Year: March 17, 2006 – Friday

     

    It was another week until they were able to meet with Emily and get Bette’s diary. Emily was really nice and helpful. She already knew about the whole situation from Jennifer and arranged for them to meet at the local library where she was working on some school assignments.

     

    Emily handed Bette the diary and then said shyly, “Jen wanted me to ask you guys…if you ever find out what happened to Lizzie and Christina, would you let us know? Jen and I spent a lot of time reading this diary and we felt like we know them personally.”

     

    “We will definitely let you know,” Tina smiled uneasy. She glanced at Bette and continued, “But I have a feeling that whatever happened, those two ended up happy.”

    8. What a sweet chapter! I could picture Tina and Bette out on the patio during both conversations, and your dialogue was perfect. I liked that Bette had Tina reading to her rather than the other way around. You’re getting so good at this that pretty soon we will have to pay to read your writing! :-) Thanks!
