PART 9
I open the door and the first thing I see is Carmen. A beautiful Carmen, still naked but wrapped in a white sheet, sipping a mug of coffee, sitting at the kitchen table.
I tilt my head and smile, amazed by her beauty.
“Hey…” I say huskily.
“Hey you…” she answers sweetly. And her voice sounds like rustling silk into my ears.
“Where have you been?”.
I move some steps across the room and kneel down in front of her feeling my heart bumping into my chest. Again.
“Uhm… I needed a walk…” I state, lying and – for the first time in my life – not feeling uncomfortable doing it.
Carmen brushes my chin and bends her head, kissing me on the lips.
“Oh well… Welcome back…”.
I stroke her ruffled curly hair with my fingers.
“I have missed you…”.
It’s so true.
“I have missed you too…”.
And she’s sincere, as well. I can feel it.
“How do you feel?” I ask, placing my chin on her legs and raising my look towards her eyes.
She smiles, relaxed.
“Oh, I feel good. Really, really good. Looks like you’re the best medicine for me…”.
We stay silent for a while.
I don’t move. I just want to stay there, enjoying her touch over my hair, on my face, my shoulders. Breathing her scent. Feeling her warm body connecting with mine.
“How did it happen?” I ask, finally.
“Making love?”
“Yeah… It was unexpected”
“Totally”. She smirks.
I smile back.
“Are you kidding me?”
“A little…”. She smirks again, raising an eyebrow.
She’s so close now. So intimate. The distance has disappeared. It’s like I’m seeing her for the very first time in a million years. And I don’t know if I want to cry or to laugh.
Carmen exhales.
“Well… I know it was unexpected for you. It was all in your eyes. The surprise…The amazement. The fear”.
“I wasn’t scared of you” I cut in, muttering slowly, caressing her legs.
“I know. You were scared I didn’t really want it…”. She nods.
“Yeah…”. I kiss her. Deeply. Unhurriedly.
“But I really wanted it…”, she murmurs against my lips. Then, she kisses me again.
”It’s in your eyes
I can see the love
You try to hide
It’s in your eyes
I can feel the hurt
So deep inside…”
