Kit and Tasha start handing out slices of pizza, while Max gets everyone a beer. Everyone starts eating and drinking. They are all having a great time, laughing and joking. All of the tension that has been between them these past few weeks has been forgotten. Shane sits down at the table and watches all of her friends assembled in her kitchen. She smiles. She finally lets her gaze drift to Molly, who is standing next to her. She pulls her down into her lap and kisses her sweetly.

Chapter 6

Shane, Molly, Jenny and Max are cleaning up the kitchen after everyone has left for the evening. Molly and Max gather up the beer bottles and take them outside to the recycle, while Shane and Jenny clear the table.

“It was nice to have everyone here tonight,” Jenny says.

“Yeah. It was.” Shane gathers up some plates and tosses them in the trash. She leans up against the counter. “I just want to put what happened behind me. I don’t want to hold a grudge. I’m really happy for the first time in a long time and I don’t want anything to ruin that. You know?”

“Yeah, I do,” Jenny replies back. She pauses for a minute, but then continues. “I’m glad we can talk like this again.”

Shane smiles. “Me too.” She saunters past Jenny and heads towards the back door. Peering out, she catches a glimpse of Max and Molly talking. Molly is laughing. A smile spreads across Shane’s face that reaches her eyes.

“You really love her, don’t you?” Jenny pries.

“Yeah.” Shane nods her head. “I do. It took me by surprise just how much and how fast, but I really do.”

“Shane…” Jenny walks up behind her and puts her hand on her shoulder. “Don’t fvck this up for yourself, okay?” Shane turns around somewhat irked at Jenny’s implication. “I mean, let yourself be happy. You deserve it.”

Shane turns back around to watch Molly some more. “Thanks, Jen.”

Molly and Max make their way back to the house. Shane opens the door for them and when Molly walks in, she leans in and gives her a kiss.
”What was that for?” Molly asks happily.

“Just ‘cause I wanted to.” Shane smiles at her and goes back to cleaning up the kitchen.
