The Gathering 01.91 – Little Known Fact pt 6

“Deal, take care of her Angel, she’s precious to a lot of people I love.”

“Including yourself?”  Shot back Angel; and Sam simply walked to her car and drove away.

                “Thought so Willow.”

    ******

“You got Dana another sponsor?”  Bette asked as she pulled the lasagna out of the oven turning the oven off and setting the dish aside to cool.  She took the oven mitts off and Tina smiled from the dining room table.

“Yeah, Mr. Brown thought it was a wonderful idea.  *****’s and *****’s have a lot more money to spend than most average people, think about it.  Most of them don’t have kids and a large ratio is successful, they have money to burn!  Why not burn it on athletic wear that is being sported by an up and coming ***** tennis player?  Just Dana‘s back story is enough to at least launch the line.”  Bette nodded; she then sat down, taking Tina‘s hand.

“That is just great babe.  I have some news too.”  Bette tried to figure out how to phrase this, then she just decided that the all out balls to the wall truth was in order.

“Peggy called me today.”  Tina‘s face paled, was she darting out of town again?

“Ahhh.”  Said Tina as she got up and taking out two glasses and poured herself a large glass of milk and Bette a large glass of water.

“She is building a new art center; and wants me to run it.”  Tina froze she remembered how hard Bette worked when she’d had her own gallery.  Long hours, even longer weeks that stretched into months of no days off.

“Ahhh.”  Was all that Tina offered they were back to being happy and Bette was about to cut their time together in half.  Again.  Tina wrestled internally for the way to deal with this.

“I didn’t say yes.  I wanted to talk to you about it first.”  Tina sat down, lips pursed and thinking, then she asked.

“The CAC isn’t renewing your contract?”  Bette shrugged, she wouldn’t know until next week.  Tina nodded as Bette shrugged.  “Free reign to do what you want.”  Tina threw out and Bette‘s eyes lit up.  Tina already knew she was going to take the job.  The moment she saw that light in Bette‘s eyes, she knew she was going to fight tooth and nail for what she really wanted.
