The L Word: Tina Kennard’s lost background

“T…I think we’re the news of today…” Bette said with chuckle.

“Trust me…we aren’t the best news they’ll hear today…” Tina answered taking her sunglasses and wearing it on…” That’s why I hate coming here…”

Bette gave her a puzzled look, and turned her gaze back on the road. The house of Tina’s relatives was out of the town, understandable why. Bette loved the nature. She looked around taking the beautiful sight and taking deep breath of the fresh air.

    “It’s so peaceful here…”

“Yeah…that’s the only think I like in here…the silence.” Tina said, taking one of the dusty roads to the estate.

“So your grandparents are living here?” Bette asked wanting to know some more about Tina’s relatives.

“Yeah, they practically raised me after my mother sent me away…” Tina sight deeply. The memories of this fateful day never left her mind.

    “But why…I don’t understand…” Bette frowns

“Well…some mothers aren’t the best role models…my for sure isn’t” Tina said, looking at Bette. She knew why Bette was asking her this question. She wanted to know what to expect in the house. Tina smiled and continued

“I have a sister…somewhere…I don’t know anything about her since I came here. She promised me to come and fide me, but she never actually appeared…till few days ago.” Tina stopped hearing Bette’s gasped. Tina looked at her and nodded. “That note…it was from her.”

“So that’s the reason why we’re here?” Bette asked

“Sort of…I just have to ask some questions…and I promise once I have the answers we’re out of here…”

“But I like it here…look at the nature, and the tranquility, it’s amazing…” Bette said in a daze.

“Trust me…is not that great as it looks…”

“But you spent your childhood here, how you don’t like it?”

“That’s why…I spent so many years in efforts of getting out of here… I can’t believe I’m back voluntary…”

Tina took a left turn and there was it. The big, front gates of the estate were like from horror movie scene. In the middle of the front yard was located a big, antique fountain with marble statues holding hands. The house was in old Victorian still, with a lot of stairs to the front door. Tina parked the car and stepped out, going to the other side and opening Bette’s door. Bette smiled and kissed Tina on the check. Then Tina reached and took Angie in her arms. She took Bette’s hand in her free hand and they walked together. Tina took deep breath and ringed the bell, waiting someone to open. The door quietly squeaked and a tall grey-haired man stood in front of them. He politely smiled and stepped aside letting them in. Tina turned her head toward Bette and squeezed her hand, than both of them walked in followed by the man. He led them in the big living room, decorated with antique furniture. In one of the armchairs was sitting an old woman. Her eyes were looking right ahead. She didn’t bother to turn her head to see who’s in the room with her. She didn’t have to, she already knew. Tina took few steps ahead and stopped near the old woman, resting her hand on her shoulder. Rose Kennard was in her middle 80’s but looked much older. The worries and the all illness she had over the years took much of her strength.
